The Spigen Rugged Armor for the AirPod Pro is probably the first case I’ve used that I actually liked. Until I started using the Caseology Vault… Unlike the Spigen Tough Armor, the Rugged Armor looks like a normal Rugged Armor case. If you’re looking for a relatively no-nonsense case, the Rugged Armor is worth checking out. Get the Spigen Rugged Armor  on Amazon! We use stuff and then we talk about them. Spigen’s not paying for this review and I’m only doing it because I want to know what the best Apple AirPod case is. The Rugged Armor is overall much better than the Tough Armor and miles ahead of Amazon brands like ESR and JeTech. BUT doesn’t offer the same amount of protection as products from Catalyst and UAG. That was tough to say, the part about UAG since their silicone case is so bad. The Rugged Armor for the AirPod’s Pro looks like the Rugged Armor case for the iPhone’s. There is one difference that is a bummer for me BUT I do like the carbon fibre etching on the Rugged Armor. The Rugged Armor only comes in black so don’t get it if you don’t like black? The Rugged Armor follows the general shape of the AirPod case and is made from silicone that has a slight matte finish to it. I do wish the texture was a bit more pronounce because it’s just a tad too slick. There is a small loop for the carabiner so go hog wild in hanging it off things. The Rugged Armor is a two piece case with an adhesive in the top cap to prevent it from popping off easily. This two piece design ensures that the satisfying click of the AirPod case is maintained. The case doesn’t get in the way of accessing the buds. Which seems like a silly thing to mention but I can’t say that for products from UAG. It’s odd… CTA - Now I like the product but we’re still have a bunch of cases to review so we’ll have to see how well it does overall. Now earlier I mentioned that there was a slight difference between the rugged armor for the iPhone and the rugged armor for the AirPodPro. This difference is in the finish of the non-CF portion of the product. On the iPhone case, there’s a decent amount of texture whereas the AirPod’s case is smooth which is why I say it’s just too slick. If Spigen added that to the Rugged Armor, this would be near perfect. But then they wouldn’t need this Caseology case… When it comes to protection, the rugged armor will prevent your AirPod’s case from getting scuffed up from day to day use. I’m not sure the Rugged Armor will do anything for the buds because there’s a good chance that your buds are going to come flying out of the case. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Subscribe to stay in the loop! I like to think of myself as a Spigen Tough Armor connoisseur. Mostly because I like the case and I’ve seen a lot of them. Does the Tough Armor for the AirPods live up to my expectations of the Tough Armor name. It doesn’t. Now when I was started reviewing AirPod cases last year, Spigen only had products like the Valentius which was terrible but since then, they’ve released other products like the Tough Armor, Rugged Armor and Slim Armor. Check out the other video we did for the AirPods: If you’re serious about getting a Spigen AirPod Case, go with the Rugged Armor. Get the Spigen Tough Armor (if you must) on Amazon! Amazon US: Amazon CA: Amazon UK: Amazon DE: OR The better product, the Spigen Rugged Armor: Amazon US: Amazon CA: Amazon UK: Amazon DE: The Tough Armor for the AirPod’s doesn’t look bad. It looks like a case that has several parts to it but it’s just a simple silicone case. It looks tougher than it actually is and that’s what bothers me about this product. The two piece Tough Armor comes in three colors which include a black, grey and green case. Spigen decided to use the color Military Green instead of Olive Drab used by UAG. The case is all silicone. That’s right, unlike the actual Tough Armor case that is a combination of two materials, PC and TPU, the AirPod’s version is one. Which is why I say it doesn’t live up to the Tough Armor name. After using this product, I had a bit more appreciation for companies like Mous and Nomad who have mixed material cases. I will add that the silicone on the TOugh Armor is very aggressive. It’s probably the most aggressive silicone finish that I’ve come across in my years of reviewing products. Which means it becomes a magnet for Monty hair and literally anything else that’s floating around in the air. The pocket pulling power of this product is off the charts. If you have really small pockets that is. Installation of the Tough Armor is a bit of a hassle as well. The inside of the product has a high gloss finish to it which means you need to insert your AirPod’s Pro perfectly into the case or else nothing is going to line up. The Tough Armor has a loop for a carbineer which might be handy for some people but I don’t use it. I will note that Spigen includes a sticky on the top piece of the case which prevents the cap from coming off. /mindblown I can’t tell you when I first started reviewing AirPod cases, how annoyed I was with products whose caps would just pop right off. The two piece design with the adhesive on the cap preserves the satisfying “click” that you get when you pop the cases open and the cap doesn’t get in the way of accessing your buds. It’s crazy that I have to say that but there are lots of products that wont’ let you do that. The case is Qi-charging compatible, the status light is visible and the pairing button is pushable through the back. Overall, using this case is quite decent. When it comes to protection, Spigen doesn’t state that it’s rated to Mil-Std 810g or anything but the oversized corners are going to offer the Airpods a decent amount of impact protection. The dual piece design also exposes abit more of the airpod case as there is nothing covering the hinge of the product. I personally don’t think this is going to be an issue. You’d have to be really unlucky to drop it in that exact spot and have something damage the hinge. The biggest downside of the Tough Armor and it’s two piece design is that dropping your case in the product may result in the buds actually coming out of the case which is terrible. My biggest issue with the AirPods? The possibility of losing it without even knowing. For most people, it's not an issue as the AirPods fit their ears just fine, but if you have ear holes like mine, where the right one is larger than the left, than Apple's one-size-fits-all model doesn't work out that well. That's where you may want to step back in innovation and put the Spigem AirPod Strap back into the equation. Although it doesn't smoothly work together with the AirPods system, mainly, it's sort of a mess to store the cord away, but it solves my greatest fear of randomly losing an AirPod - that by the way, costs $70 USD to replace. The main downside to the cord however is that if you already find the AirPods don't fit, the Spigen AirPod Strap actually makes it worse. Spigen VS Catalyst: And The Better Case is... 1. FORM - CATALYST. I actually like the overall look of the Catalyst. Plus the logo is way better on this one. Altho, I love the two tone of the Spigen. 2. INSTALLATION - SPIGEN. Altho the Catalyst fits fine with the AirPods Pro same with the Spigen, there was no instance that I didn’t troubleshoot the Catalyst just to align the charging port to the port hole of the case. 3. FORM PT. 2 - SPIGEN. Notice the part of the case where you attach the carabiner. You attach it on the right side for the Spigen, while on the opposite side for the Catalyst. For some reason, I’m more comfortable with the Spigen. Maybe because I’m right handed? 4. FUNCTIONALITY - CATALYST. Plus it’s tighter compared to the Spigen. I guess because it’s a bit thicker as well. 5. CARABINER - SPIGEN. I love the size. I love the mobility when attached to the case. I love the metallic finish. I love that it has a name on it. 6. LED INDICATOR - SPIGEN. The designated hole on the Spigen is kind of “helpful” for me for some reason. 7. WATERTIGHTNESS - TIE. Obviously not the best waterproof comparison there is but with what I did, it seems both could protect the Airpods Pro fairly. Anyway, I bought this case not because it’s waterproof but because I love how you open it to get the AirPods Pro. Lastly, the price difference. I’d most likely consider buying the Catalyst if it has the same price with the Spigen. In conclusion, I clearly give the win to SPIGEN. 📦 #philippines #spigen #catalyst

What’s the best case to go with your AirPod or AirPod Pro’s? In the last while, I’ve gone and purchased dozens of cases and used them all. And dropped them all. With actual AirPod’s. That was painful to do… BUT out of all that, here’s the top 5 out of the 24+ cases I’ve used in the last few months. #1 Catalyst Waterproof (Get it on Amazon: ) #2 Spigen Slim Armor IP (Get in on Amazon: ) #3 Mous AirPods Case (Get a discount using the code: MobileReviewsEh2005-20PG at !) #4 Nomad Active Rugged Case () #5 UAG Hardshell Case (Get it on Amazon: ) That’s the 40 second power ranking for the impatient. Check out the rest of the Top 10 below (with details!) I will add that my scoring system skews heavily towards the protection of the AirPods. Which is my, despite my personal disdain the UAG Silicone Case, it’s still #8. I factor EVERYTHING into my scoring system, including # of color choices, materials and handling. Monty’s pretty comprehensive like that. #10 Fintie Leather Case (3.4) - 00:01:49 If you’re looking to carry your AirPod’s in a leather-looking pouch, the best one I’ve used is the Fintie Leather Case. BUT accessing the buds of your AirPod’s is going to be painful as the leather cover gets in the way of the AirPod cases’s cap. So that’s great. #9 Spigen Tough Armor AirPod Pro Case (3.4) - 00:02:25 This silicone case has one of the most aggressive silicone finishes I’ve ever seen in my years of reviewing! The Spigen Tough Armor does offer better drop protection than other cases as the giant corners mutes the “buds come flying out” portion of a drop. #8 UAG Silicone Case (3.4) - 00:03:09 I don’t like this case. It looks silly. BUT it’s one of the few cases that will generally prevent the buds from flying out of the AirPod’s charging case during a drop. That’s the only reason why it cracks the Top 10 list. #7 SupCase Battle Pods (3.4) - 00:03:52 Out of all the cases I’ve used, the SupCase has the largest portability enhancement feature. BUT I have no idea what it’s for. I’d call it a wrist strap but it’s too small to go on my wrist and it has these two metal loops that seem to have no useful purpose other than to give my fingers something to play with. #6 Caseology Vault (3.5 out 5) - 00:04:50 The Vault has a nice texture, not quite as aggressive as a normal silicone case which is why it scores higher than its cousin, the Spigen Tough Armor and the other cousin that nobody wants to talk about, the Spigen Rugged Armor. #5 UAG Apple AirPods Hardshell case (3.5 out of 5) - 00:05:45 At minimum the case will be able to handle a 4 foot drop, but it could likely handle up to five to six feet although not explicitly stated. During our testing, the top of the case popped off about six out of 10 drops we did -- BUT it stopped the buds from flying out. #4 Nomad Active Rugged Case (3.7 out of 5) - 00:06:40 Just to clarify, I’m talking about the Active Rugged version, not the normal version of the case. The normal version of the case had a cap that came off WAY too easily which made this a silly product to buy given it’s price tag. The leather on this case is highly water resistant and will won’t show the usual patina you’d find on normal leather products. The leather is wrapped around a PC shell is going to provide a decent amount of protection for your device. #3 Mous AirPods (3.8 out of 5) - 00:07:32 Out of all the products on this list, the Mous AirPods case is going to provide the best protection for your buds as your expensive tiny white ear speakers is cradled in a layer of AiroShock, a TPE-like material and a polycarbonate shell. Too bad the case doesn’t keep the cap on during a drop. Your buds are going to fly everywhere. #2 Spigen Slim Armor IP (4.7 out of 5) - 00:08:40 In fact, the Slim Armor bears an eery resemblance to the best case on this list, the Catalyst Waterproof. To access the case, you need to peel the case back like a banana. #1 Catalyst Waterproof (4.8 out of 5) - 00:09:43 I would say the Catalyst Waterproof case for the AirPod is the OG AirPod case. The Catalyst case is going to provide the most drop and water protection for your AirPod’s. Accessing the buds is similar to the Slim Armor IP because you get to peel the case like a banana. So that’s the Top 10. So after all those drops? Do my Apple AirPod Pro’s still work? They do. I do a quick unboxing of the black Valkit Apple Airpods pro case. It's only 11$ and has four-and-a-half-thousand four-and-a-half star ratings on Amazon. That's a lot of four-and-a-halfs. As of editing this video two days later, I can say that I will probably not be using the external pouch at all. Nothing wrong with it, it just takes longer to access them when they are zipped inside the pouch. No complaints so far, but only time will tell. Seems like a decent little investment for basic protection from scratches and drops.

So how many of you working from home have found a new found appreciation for their AirPods? BUT now that you’re touting that thing everywhere, you might need a case. So should you get the UAG Soft Silicone case for your AirPod Pros? Short answer is no. The long answer is still nooooooooo.... SO MUCH better: Amazon US: Amazon CA: Amazon UK: Amazon DE: If you REALLY need to get this case, get it here: Amazon US: Amazon CA: Amazon UK: Amazon DE: At MREH, Monty and I base our reviews on actual usage. We don’t wait for companies to approach us to review a product, we see a product that we ~might like, we buy it and then see if it’s any good. That approach to reviews means that we spend a lot of money on really bad products. BUT better us then you right? Everything that might be good about the UAG soft silicone case is better on our current favourite, the Catalyst Waterproof case. For the same price. When it comes to design, UAG Silicone case is basically one piece which isn’t great for handling. I always wonder how designers look at potential products because with this product it feels like it started with “How much silicone can we wrap around a tiny piece of plastic”. This silicone case makes something sleek look chunky. And it doesn’t even cover the entire case as there is a gap between the top and bottom pieces. I will note that the finish on the silicone case isn’t as aggressive as some of the of the other cases we’ve used but will still pull your pockets out. Also, silicone case=pocket link magnet. Or Monty hair magnet. UAG offers 4 different color choices with the standout color being Olive drab because drab is such a great word to use. I tend to favourite louder accessories but in retrospect, I should have gone with the black case with the slight orange accent. The UAG silicone comes with a carabiner that’s attached to another loop which is then attached to the case. That extra look makes it even clumsier than most AirPod cases. When it comes to using your AirPods, the UAG silicone case takes away from that experience. The UAG case suffers the same fate as most single piece cases as it takes away from the “click” of the cap. Honestly, if want to know what I feel everytime I use this case, think about all the times you get a plate of fries that look crispy but are actually soggy. The hinge on the back doesn’t allow you to fully open the cap which means you have to fight with it a little to get your buds into your ears. It doesn’t even snap close which is awesome and the AirPods actually move in the case. That’s right, the entire unit moves in the case when you open and close it. The lightning port is covered and the case allows for Qi-charging. The pairing button is accessible on the back and the status light, though covered, is visible through the case. For protection, the case is apparently rated to mil-std 810g which means it’s good for at least 4 ft. In general, you’re not going to have any issues with drop protection, just be aware to press the case together after each drop because it starts to come apart after each drop. As I said at the beginning of the video, go with the Catalyst Waterproof case if you’re looking for something similar to this product. So out of the last round of AirPod Pro cases, the Caseology Vault is one of the better ones. If you’re looking for a decent handling case that allows you to use AirPod’s normally. Get the Caseology Vault. The keyword in that statement is “normally”. I can’t believe how bad some these AirPod Cases have been. But not the Vault. It's solid! Get the Caseology Vault on Amazon! Amazon US: Amazon CA: Amazon UK: Amazon DE: At MREH, I base my reviews on Monty’s magical pixie dust. Many of you have remarked how still he is during my ’s a little secret. He’s actually telling me what through his magical pixie dust telepathy. The Caseology Vault is a no-nonsense case. It doesn’t try to be anything special like the Spigen Tough Armor, isn’t as terrible as the UAG Silicone case and is basically an evolved version of the Spigen Rugged Armor. In fact, the Vault has the same texture as the actual Rugged Armor case which is odd. Also, Spigen and Caseology are related. Not sure who owns who but I think they come from the same place. The vault comes in one color, black so if want a brighter colored case, maybe get one from Catalyst or Casetify. The silicone on the case is a couple of mm’s thick which means it will protect the AirPod’s case from the occasional drop. I can’t say the same for the buds though. The Vault comes with a loop and carabiner so that you can hang your airpods off your pants if you really wanted to. Caseology also includes a stick at the top of the case which means your cap isn’t going to come flying off easily. The two piece design also means the satisfying click of the cap remains intact. Now I’ve been talking ALOT about the cap and I realized that my affinity for the click is the same as my affinity for Zippo lighters. Apparently I have a mild addiction to clickable caps… Now the texture on the case is really nice. It’s not aggressive like the average silicone case. It comes in and out of pockets easily, does not attract much pocket lint but doesn’t slip out or your hand like UAG hardshell case does sometimes. When it comes to protection, the Vault is going to do great things for the AirPod case on a day to day basis but the moment you drop it, your buds are probably are going to take an unexpected trip outside the case. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Subscribe to stay in the loop! How to install and remove the Air Pals Mini from your Apple AirPods Pro Case. Installation: Wipe over your AirPods with alcohol to get rid of any dirt. Peel the plastic off of the reusable gel pad in the cap and place the cap on the AirPods lid. Push the edges of the AirPods into the Air Pals top tightly. Slide the base of the Apple AirPods Pro Case into the Air Pals case. Removal: Turn the Apple AirPods Pro Case with the hinge facing you and remove the lid. Turning the case to face you again, and with the lid open, use the earbud intents to slowly wiggle the Apple AirPods Pro Case from the Air Pals Mini case.
