In today's installment I will unbox and take a look at a 2.5" USB 3.0 tooless SATA Hard Drive Enclosure from ORICO (2588US3). I received this product as a review sample but I will still view it as if I purchased it with my own money. This enclosure can be purchased from Amazon for $ (link below). Overall I was satisfied with the quality and performance of the enclosure. The case is composed entirely of plastic and it does bend slightly when force is applied to it by the hands. It will protect a drive in the case of a small fall and for its price I think the build quality is good. Installing a drive is incredibly easy, I really love the toolless design of the case. Just pop the back panel off, slide a drive in, and you are ready to go in under 30 seconds. Both Windows 7 and Xubuntu (Linux) had no problems recognizing the drive. For a budget drive enclosure read and write speeds were decent. It's not capable of saturating a USB 3.0 port, read speeds max out at around 220MB/s and my SSD was not able to max out the write speeds. The only major problem I have with this case is that the drive can come unseated from the SATA ports if enough force is applied to the enclosure. This is nothing major, especially since it is so easy to reseat the drive, but it is something to note. I definitely happy with this drive enclosure it offers good performance and decent quality for a low price.
