If you forget the password to your APC Rack PDU (generation 2 - starts with part number AP8xxx). Then you can recover it by connecting to the PDU via the serial port using an APC 940-0144 cable, then pressing the reset button as shown in the video. I generally use TeraTerm to connect serially to the PDU The serial port settings are:- 9600 Baud rate 8 Bits No parity 1 stop bit No flow control

If you do not have the credentials for you APC Network Management Card you can reset it using the serial cable that came with it. If you have lost that then you might struggle... This works on APC Gen 2 NMC with V6+ firmware loaded including those embedded into cooling units, UPS's Rack PDUs etc You need Serial cable suitable for the APC NMC - there are different types depending on which NMC and device you are using. A laptop with a serial port, or a USB to serial adaptor Terminal software - I used Teraterm A paperclip or similar to press the NMC reset button 1st connect the laptop to the device using the specific serial cable supplied with the NMC. Make sure the correct cable is used, the correct COM port is used and the correct serial settings are used (9600 baud, 8, none ,1, none) Do the following 3 steps steps within 60 seconds ----- 1. Reset the NMC as per this video - 2. Keep pressing Enter on the keyboard until the Username prompt appears 3. Enter the username as 'apc' and password as 'apc' ----- If you did not get logged in then try again - the resetting of the NMC was probably not done correctly. Once logged in type user -n apc -cp apc -pw apc -e enable This enables the Super User accounts and sets the credentials to apc /apc. Type exit then enter Done! Note that if you will be logged off automatically after approx. 60 seconds of inactivity
