Additionally, a ring-type USM is employed to deliver quick and quiet auto-focus performance along with full-time manual focus control what is very important for video. This 100 mm lens is compatible with a full-frame camera, it would give the same field-of-view on that camera but if you mounted it on an APS-C camera, it would show the equivalent of 160 mm telephoto lens. A friend of ours praised this Canon Super Canomatic R 100mm f2 to be a hidden gem, and he urged us to get one before the price goes up much like its cousin the Canonflex 58mm f1.2. We like this Canomatic R100/2; it's really quite sharp at wide open and its focal length is perfect in a ff format. This Canomatic R 100mm f2 has quite a bit of purple fringing at f2, its colour is not as saturated as a Nikon lens. The focal length of 200mm after the crop factor is really quite fun for filming, not easy but fun. It's really silly to modify a Canon lens into a Nikon mount, then adding an adapter for the Micro 43 Panasonic GH4 for video filming. But this is exactly what we did.

Testing the Commlite EF to full frame NEX adapter on mirrorles camera Sony A7. The fastest aperture it can go on Canon EF 85mm F1.8 lens is F2.0 and it was tested on single point focus. The focusing speed on that aperture isnt that bad. With slower aperture the focusing speed rises a little bit. The build quality of the Commlite adapter is really good, made from metal, only the added tripod adapter is wobly, so i dont use it. Other problem is internal flaring in some situations, but i think it can by solved by inserting some fabric. Test with the Canon EF 50mm F1.4:

Canon’s 100mm f/2.8 L Series macro lens was first released in 2009, but let’s take a closer look at how this lens holds up and performs for video and photos. Overall this is an outstanding lens, and while it works very well at f2.8, I’ve been getting the best results between f4 and f6. There’s also a little bit of weirdness with the stabilizer and rolling shutter, but it’s very manageable and doesn’t affect still photos.
