A test page like this is a great way to troubleshoot print quality issues with your HP printer, and check the printer's ability to produce black, cyan, magenta and yellow from the installed 934XL & HP 935XL ink cartridges. Laser vs HP Instant Ink: --- For a sub-standard #HP6230 #OfficeJet Pro 6230 printing #problem or ink printing #error [i.e. #printer #defects, poor #image #quality] including #blank #pages, white lines, #missing #black or #color #ink from #printed #images or #text, with your subscription, standard, aftermarket or refilled #HP934 or #HP935 ink #cartridges, then it is suggested to run the #CLEAN #PRINTHEAD command from the printer’s menu. You may need to perform this action twice to help recover the printer. If the 'CLEAN PRINTHEAD' function does not correct the #print #defect #issue then it is suggested to remove all 4 cartridges from the carriage. You will want to inspect each cartridge for leaks and then re-install, verifying all cartridges properly lock into carriage assembly. If #HP6230 printing issues persists then it is suggested to print a heavy colored #picture or image to see if ink can be blown thru the internal printhead, and hopefully resume normal printing. Depending on which color is missing, create a document with either 100% black color blocks or 100% Cyan, Magenta or Yellow color blocks. Print the document 2-3 times back-to-back and check for normal print output. If each subsequent print or image starts to look better, then the internal printhead could be slowly recovering. However, if one color (or #colors) is not printing, such as the black ink, then the bottom of the PRINTHEAD may be clogged with dried or built up ink. It is suggested to open the printer and remove all 4 cartridges from the carriage assembly. Obtain several paper towels and fold 3 or 4 times, dampen with water. Place the damp towel into the lower tray area next to the carriage assembly; gently push the towel down to get it as flush with bottom as possible. Gently move the HP PRINTHEAD back and forth over the paper towel; this action will help remove residual or dried ink from the bottom surfaces of the PRINTHEAD nozzle plates. You may need to repeat this procedure with a clean towel to ensure all ink residues have been removed. Note: From the time you accessed and removed all the cartridges, you will only have approx. 5 minutes to perform the cleaning with damp towel procedure, otherwise the carriage assembly will automatically, and suddenly, return to the maintenance station. So perform this operation fast! If the error message ‘ PRINTHEAD PROBLEM ’ or numerical printhead code is observed on the printer, it is suggested you remove all four cartridges and power off the printer. Power on printer and reinstall all four cartridges to see if it clears. If the problem persists then the internal PRINTHEAD may be electrically damaged or at end of life. In the majority of cases complete printer replacement is usually required, since the PRINTHEAD is not a consumer replaceable part. TIP: HP OfficeJet Pro 6230 (E3E03A) Printing Blank Pages | 934 935XL Cartridges: --- For the HP #OfficeJet Pro 6230 #printer (E3E03A) which displays HP934, 934XL, 935, or 935XL ink cartridge #error including: “ #ink cartridge #problems ”, " #Incompatible ", “ #Missing or #damaged”, " #Failure ", " #Failed", “Ink #Cartridges Problem”, #Depleted or “ #Remove and #Reinstall the indicated cartridge” then the #HP #OfficeJet Pro 6230 #printer may #fail to #detect the #HP934 or #HP935 cartridge’s electronic #smart #chip which is affixed to the rear side of #cartridge or the ink cartridge’s #plastic restraining #tab is not properly #locking the cartridge into the printer’s #PRINTHEAD assembly. To confirm cartridge to printer #connectivity you will want to first confirm that the cartridge is fully locking into position and cartridge’s plastic tab is properly aligned and providing adequate tension. Remove the suspect ink cartridge from the printer and gently pull out on rear restraining latch to ensure it is extending away from cartridge body. Be careful not to bend the tab out more than cm or approximately half of an inch (0.5” in.) as pulling on the plastic tab too hard could cause the tab to break off - so please be gentle with it. You should also inspect cartridge’s smart chip for ink residue or scratches – thoroughly clean surface with a damp cloth or towel. Reinstall ink cartridge, or cartridges, into printer and confirm cartridge is fully locking into position…a gentle click should be felt when the cartridge is installed. For printers that display #error #messages such as “ #incompatible cartridge”, “ remove and re-install cartridges” or “The following cartridges are #not #intended for #use in this Printer” then it is possible that a newer version of HP printer #firmware may have been installed onto your printer and the cartridge chip or chips are now #locked #out. A new chip will need to be installed on the respective cartridge; new chip versions may be obtained via #Alibaba .com, etc. For advanced printer troubleshooting and recovery tips please refer to my other support videos. TECH TIP: HP OfficeJet Pro 6230 No Ink On Paper: --- The #USE #SETUP #CARTRIDGES #error may be displayed on the #HP #OfficeJet Pro 6230 printer (#HPOfficeJetPro6230) after installing regular HP934 or 935 ink cartridges into the printer. Typically "SETUP" cartridges will be required to reinitialize the printer and will not allow use of HP OEM regular or extra large tanks, 3rd party aftermarket or refilled HP original ink cartridges to function. The error may also be displayed if the PRINTHEAD assembly is removed or replaced. If the original 'SETUP' cartridges are not available, you can bypass the lockout message by performing the following steps: 1. Navigate to the SUPPORT MENU by pressing the Return button 4 times in a row (Note: the Return button will not be illuminated but is located at the bottom left of menu). 2. Under SUPPORT MENU, scroll down to the SYSTEM CONFIGURATION MENU. 3. At SYSTEM CONFIGURATION MENU, select OK. 4. At the TRADE OOBE MENU, select OK. 5. At the TRADE SUPPLIES DISABLED MENU, select OK. 6. HP OEM regular, aftermarket or refilled ink cartridges may now be used in the printer. Note 1: In some cases, the SUPPORT MENU may not initially appear, you may need to first remove the ink cartridges, restart printer, then press the RETURN key four times. Laser vs HP Instant Ink: --- If your #HP6230 (HP OfficeJet Pro 6230) printer is #not #printing and has #missing black or #color ink, #blank #pages, white lines on paper (i.e. #print #banding) in #printed #images, #documents, #photos or #text, with your subscription, standard, aftermarket or refilled #HP934XL or #HP935XL ink #cartridges, then it is suggested to run the #CLEAN #PRINTHEAD command from the printer’s menu. You may need to perform this action twice to help recover the printer. If the 'CLEAN PRINTHEAD' function does not correct the #print or #color #defect #issue then it is suggested to remove all 4 cartridges from the carriage. You will want to inspect each cartridge for leaks and then re-install, verifying all cartridges properly lock into carriage assembly. If #HP #OfficeJet 6230 printing issues persists then it is suggested to print a heavy colored #picture or image to see if ink can be blown thru the internal printhead, and hopefully resume normal printing. Depending on which color is missing, create a document with either 100% black color blocks or 100% Cyan, Magenta or Yellow color blocks. Print the document 2-3 times back-to-back and check for normal print output. If each subsequent print or image starts to look better, then the internal printhead could be slowly recovering. However, if one color (or #colors) is not printing, such as the black ink, then the bottom of the PRINTHEAD may be clogged with dried or built up ink. It is suggested to open the printer and remove all 4 cartridges from the carriage assembly. Obtain several paper towels and fold 3 or 4 times, dampen with water. Place the damp towel into the lower tray area next to the carriage assembly; gently push the towel down to get it as flush with bottom as possible. Place the damp towel into the lower tray area next to the carriage assembly; gently push the towel down to get it as flush with bottom as possible. Gently move the HP PRINTHEAD back and forth over the paper towel; this action will help remove residual or dried ink from the bottom surfaces of the PRINTHEAD nozzle plates. You may need to repeat this procedure with a clean towel to ensure all ink residues have been removed.
