Failure to power down before installing or removing fuser will void warranty Shop for the P4014 P4015 P4515 Fuser RM1-4554 Shop for the P4014 P4015 P4515 Maintenance Kit CB388A CB388-67901. Your HP P4014 P4015 P4515 fuser has been built to the highest quality standards. If you are experiencing problems with this fuser (jams, noises, poor print quality, etc.), please observe the following: If the fusers sleeve does not spin when you manually turn the gear, please do not assume that the fuser will not run in the printer. At room temperature, the grease applied inside the sleeve thickens and may actually prevent the sleeve from spinning. When the fuser is installed and run in the printer, the grease will heat up and attain proper viscosity. Ensure that the paper you are printing on is within the specifications allowed by HP. For tray one/MP tray, the paper must be between 16lb and 54lb. For trays two to six, the paper must be between 16lb and 36lb. Service Note for HP LaserJet P4014 P4015 P4515 Fuser Assembly Replacement If your printer’s motors and fans run continually without printing any pages, and with “PROCESSING JOB” displayed on the control panel, along with a possible “ ERROR”, the printer’s firmware may need to be upgraded. Other Symptoms Of Outdated Firmware Jamming without cause # errors Printer stays in "Processing Job" and is slow to print or never actually prints Poor fusing/ poor images quality Be certain that both sides of the fuser are firmly locked into the printer. Listen for the two locks to snap in when you install it. If the fuser is not secured, the printer may display a “50.3 FUSER ERROR” message or you may hear a grinding noise. In either of these cases, remove the fuser and reinstall it making sure that both sides are locked in place. Continue to hold down the checkmark button until all three LEDs are illuminated. 4. Release the checkmark button. 5. Press the up arrow (Navigation) button until the message "New Maintenance Kit" appears on the control panel display. 6. Press the checkmark button once. A message "New Maintenance Kit " will appear in the printer's control panel display and the printer will be reset. Once the maintenance count has been reset the "Perform Printer Maintenance" message won't appear again until the maintenance interval has been reached (200,000 pages on a LaserJet 4200, 4250, 4300, and 4350 series printers). Transfer Roller Removal and Replacement 1. Open toner access door and tray 1. 2. Remove toner cartridge. 3. Lift the gear (left side) of the transfer roller up. 4. Slide to the left and remove. 5. Slide right side of replacement roller into right bushing. 6. Align left side collar making sure the open end is face down and push in. CAUTION: Do not touch the surface of the transfer roller. Contact with skin can cause print quality problems.. Tray 2 Feed and Separation Roller Removal and Replacement 1. Remove the tray from the printer. 2. On the tray, lift the roller cover next to the roller. 3. Pinch the blue tab and slide the roller off the shaft. 4. Slide new roller on making sure the tab locks. 5. Locate the feed roller in the top of the tray cavity. 6. Repeat steps 3 and 4. NOTE: The removal and replacement process are the same for the feed and separation rollers on tray 3 and the 1500 sheet feeder. Fusing Assembly Removal and Replacement 1. Open rear output bin/face up tray. 2. Remove output bin from printer. a.) Locate the left side hinge pin (there is a finger notch) squeeze the left hinge pin to the right to release it from its mounting hole. 3. Slide the output bin to the left to remove from printer. 4. Pinch the blue tabs on the fuser and pull fuser out of printer. 5. Push the new fuser into the printer making sure both blue tabs lock. 6. Install the rear output bin/face up tray and check for proper operation. Resetting the Maintenance Count 1. At the control panel, press the Home () button. 2. Use the down arrow button () to select ‘ADMINISTRATION’ then press the OK button. 3. Use the down arrow button to select ‘MANAGE SUPPLIES’ then press the OK button. 4. Use the down arrow button to select ‘RESET SUPPLIES’ then press the OK button. 5. Use the down arrow button to select ‘NEW MAINTENANCE KIT’ then press the OK button. 6. Use the down arrow button to select ‘YES’ then press the OK button. 7. The display should show ‘SETTINGS WERE SAVED SUCCESSFULLY’. 8. Print a configuration page. Ensure the ‘Pages since last maintenance’ entry is set to zero.
