One side of bedroom slide stopped working, but I could hear the motor spinning. Turns out the driveshaft dropped out of the collar that holds it to the motor. I was able to pry it back up in place with a screwdriver from the exterior, but how do I keep it from dropping out again? Right now I have a shim under it.

Here is the transcript of this video: "This video will help you replace the brake pad on all models of Dutton-Lainson DLB-series brake winches. Start by removing the load from your winch, then attach a vise grip to the drive shaft. Grab a 3/4" wrench to loosen the handle nut. Pull the nut and spring off of the drive shaft, then crank the handle until it and the vise grip can be pulled off of the drive shaft. Use two 9/16" wrenches to loosen and remove the locknut on the end of the reel bolt, pull the bolt out of the reel, then the reel out of the base. Note that you may have a washer on the end of the reel's spacer. If you do, just leave it there, as it will need to be in that same spot when you re-install the reel later. Next, use a flathead screwdriver to pry the e-ring out of its slot in the drive shaft. If you can't freely slide the bearing out of its hole and along the drive shaft at this point, turn the winch on its side, set your 3/4" wrench on the bearing, then hit the wrench with a hammer until the bearing comes loose. Slide the bearing against the gears on the drive shaft, then pull the drive shaft assembly out of the base. Remove the pressure washer, ratchet wheel, and brake pad from the drive shaft, then install your new brake pad, followed by the ratchet wheel, then the washer. Double check that the flat side of the ratchet wheel is against the washer and its rounded side is against the brake pad, or your winch will not function properly. Rotate the ratchet pawl until it sits in the hook of the ratchet spring and hold it down while you re-install the drive shaft assembly into the base. Let go of the ratchet pawl, but continue to hold the drive shaft assembly in place while you make sure that the ratchet pawl is correctly engaging the ratchet wheel like you see here. Slide the bearing into its hole in the base and set the e-ring in its slot in the drive shaft, then you can take your hand off of the drive shaft assembly. Press the e-ring completely into its slot with your flathead screwdriver. If your winch had a spacer washer on the side of the reel, make sure it's still there, then set the reel back inside of the base. Insert the reel's bolt through the reel and both holes in the base and use your 9/16" wrenches to tighten the nut on the reel bolt until it's snug. Crank your handle onto the drive shaft until the gears are engaged, then set the spring on the drive shaft so it's wider end is against the handle and its narrower end is against the handle nut. Finally, tighten the nut on the end of the drive shaft, once again holding it in place with a vise grip if needed. Thanks for watching! The upper shaft attaches to the engine on your Ryobi split shaft trimmer. The opposite end attaches to the various accessories. The most common reason you need to replace the upper shaft is wear to the coupling where the accessories attach. Replacing the upper shaft is easy to do, and I’m going to show you how. Upper shaft assemblies, as well as many other parts, can be found on our website. Let’s get started. I’ll begin by removing the accessory from the motor shaft. The handle assembly is secured with five screws plus one anti-rotation screw. I’ll split the two halves by removing those screws. Now remove the trigger and the trigger spring. With the trigger removed, now I can go ahead and pull the opposite half of the handle assembly away from the throttle cable. Now I’ll remove the anti rotation screw from the shaft, as well as loosen the clamp, then I can separate the shaft from the motor. There are number of components on the old shaft that we’ll need to transfer to the new one, so I’ll go ahead and remove those now. On the motor end, I have the spring, I’ll pull that away. I’ll also slide the clamp off of the shaft, and then I need to remove the handle. The handle has another anti-rotation screw on the bottom. I’ll go ahead and remove that, and while we are at it, there’s another similar screw on this end of the shaft. Now I can loosen the screws that secure the handle. And now I can just slide this assembly off of the shaft. Now the accessory clamp. Again, there’s an anti-rotation screw. And the screw that tightens the clamp to the shaft. Now I can install the upper shaft. You’ll notice that one end of the shaft has a cast female end to receive the accessories, and that’s the end that the clamp goes on. The opposite end has a slit milled in it, and that end will go into the engine. Now we’ll go ahead and install all the pieces that we took off of the old shaft. I’ll start with the accessory clamp. I’ll slide it onto the shaft until the holes for the anti-rotation screw line up, then I can replace the anti-rotation screw and tighten the clamp screw. Now I’ll slide the handle back onto the shaft. And again, I want to lineup the holes for the anti-rotation screws. I’ll use the hole that’s closest to the clamp assembly, and I’ll tighten the screws and secure the handle. Then we’ll install another anti-rotation screw. This one keeps the inner cable liner from rotating. Now I can slide the clamp back over the shaft and replace the spring. Now install the shaft back into the engine. The slot should go up toward the top of the engine. You want to make sure that you align the spring with the clutch drum, and then insert the shaft until the anti-rotation screw holes line up. Now I can reinstall the clamp. And again, line up the anti-rotation screw holes, and install the anti-rotation screw. And now I’ll secure the clamp. I'm attempting to replace the front driveshaft which has twisted off on this Mercedes S550 but I can't get the shaft off of the transfer case slip spline. Any ideas???

Here is a walk through of an issue with a Schwintek In-Will Slide System on my NEW 2021 Forest River Salem Cruise-Lite (Model 273QBXL). This unit has one large slide in the living area. The rear drive shaft of this system keeps sliding within its frame causing the motor on top and coupling to pop off of the drive shaft and no longer function causing the slide room to fail when prompted to retract. Based on previous problems I had with the slide room seals (which were fixed by dealer) after taking delivery of the travel trailer, I believe the system was defective or more probably not installed correctly by Forest River. This issue has been ongoing throughout the 2021 summer camping season for me, even though I am able to temporarily fix it. It should be noted that this issue is only occurring on the rear drive system of the slide; the front motor and track system have been working fine.
