Я глубоко убежден, что NAS нужен каждому, кто фанатеет от технологий и хочет круто всё оформить у себя дома. Это не только внешнее хранилище, на которое можно скидывать архви фоточек (кст, зачем это деалть в ввек гугл фото?). На NAS'е можно развернуть HomeBridge и подружить Xiaomi с Apple Home, даже если изначально поддержки эпл хоум нет. И вообще построить полноценный смарт хоум. Можно автоматически архивировать и делать копию своего Mac на сервак при помощи Apple Time Machine. Можно очень удобно организовать просмотр кино. What is NAS hard drive? NAS hard drive is designed for systems running 24/7. This mainly means network attached storage servers. As you may well know NAS servers will turn the drives into a combined storage volume with a 1 or more drive failure protection. RAID means that data is broken down into small pieces and is written across all drives in the RAID group. This means NAS hard drives have to be made to last through neverending reading and writing operations. How is it different than regular drive? It is very different than regular desktop drive found in your PC where data is occasionally added to it. Regular drives are made to be turned off daily. Also, desktop drives would unlikely be used in the RAID (mirror or stripe at best). Desktop drives will more often feature higher spin rate. This is because computers using them need to be able to quickly request data from it at any given time. NAS drives will spin at the slower rate or even hibernate when no one is accessing data. And it will also spin faster if there are an increased number of people accessing the data. This means NAS drives are more power efficient rather than desktop drives like WD Blue/ Black or Seagate Barracuda. This description contains links to and Amazon. I've cautioned folks over the years to avoid them largely because the NAS boxes didn't have enough hardware oomph to transcode videos. This NAS is the first one that can actually transcode video and do it decently. In my testing I was able to get three relatively stable and separate streams of Blu Ray MKV files transcoded to a collection of phones and tablets. Adding a fourth transcoding stream to the mix did slow things down a bit. But given that no other NAS I've tested could even maintain one stream this is a huge improvement for a NAS box. According to Plex's NAS spreadsheet, the PR2100 and its larger sibling the PR4100 are the only NAS devices that support hardware transcoding. See the full list here: #Plex #Plex@!
