Сегодня без бекапа фотографий профессиональному фотографу вообще никуда, и если поначалу вполне обходишься простым копированием на внешние диски, то со временем приходишь к более серьезным решениям. Generally speaking, Synology NAS has a long-standing reputation for being underpowered when compared to brands like QNAP and Asustor, at least out of the box, choosing to focus on their award-winning DSM software. This is changing a bit in 2019/2020 with the newer Synology drives featuring improved hardware choices, but still, for many, it seems a little underwhelming. One potential benefit that’s highlighted to improve performance considerably multiple users is to upgrade the RAM (Random Access Memory) in the Synology NAS drive. Upgrading Ram on my new Synology DS218+ from 2GB to 8GB You can get this on Amazon ($300, Dec 2019): The newest version is the DS220+, since my version is 3 years old now. If you’re ordering this and need Amazon Prime, there’s a 30-Day Free Trial: The 2GB that comes with the DS218+ is DDR3L 1866MHz which is a rare speed and size combo. Generally getting to 1866MHz, you get into the 4GB and 8GB sizes. I ran 1600 because I already had the RAM laying around. The difference in real world performance is slim. As of 2020, the 1600MHz isn't as readily available so the few dollar savings isn't worth it unless you already have laying around. Timetec (SK Hynix Only) $21 - Crucial (Micron) $25 - Stick with good RAM for Synology, I tried a few sticks I had and some didn't read. Had good luck with Samsung and anything with SK Hynix on the 1600MHz.
