Upgrading RAM on your QNAP TS-453A? Use this tutorial to do it. Follow the steps below. All you need to do is: 1) Get 2 SODIMM memory sticks (DDR3L - L for low voltage) 2) Unscrew the three screws at the back 3) Pull the cover out 4) Remove the stick inside and replace with new ones 5) Put it back together 6) Pray that it works Keep the removed stick as in case of warranty, you might need to insert it back. My 6 month review of the QNAP TS-453A. I feel that this NAS is the perfect for what i need it for. Yes there is new better and faster ones out there but the price and speed of this one was just right for me. If you are looking for a entry to medium level NAS for your home with ample dependability and able to run different raids then this will work for you fine. Just after unboxing my 453A, I took out the 4GB (2x2) of installed memory and replaced it with 16GB (2x8). This is the first time I've ever done this, and it's actually very easy to do. The NAS is working great with 16GB ram! Check out the ram I bought here:

QNAP TS-453Bmini NAS Versus TS-453A und Unpacking Schon vor vielen Jahren war QNAP für mich quasi die Rettung! Ich hatte damals mit einigen anderen Herstellern bzw. deren Geräten diverse Probleme gehabt , so dass in einem Fall sogar sämtliche meiner Daten "einfach weg" waren!!! So kam ich nach einigen Recherchen auf das QNAP TS-439, welches mir dann viele Jahre zuverlässig gute Dienste erwies! QNAP ist einer der führenden Hersteller auf diesem Gebiet , der neben "Network Attached Storage–Systemen" (kurz NAS) auch ein Spezialist von NVR-Videoüberwachungslösungen ist. Entsprechend gibt es auch bei QNAP die Möglichkeit Netzwerkkameras mit einzubinden (Surveillance Station). Aber dazu mehr in weiteren Artikeln. Nun zum neuen QNAP TS-453Bmini Die Qnap Turbo Station TS-453Bmini ist mit 4GB derzeit ab 480 EUR zu haben und seit Frühjahr 2017 verfügbar. Es spielt in derselben Liga (Mittelklasse, KMU) wie etwa die vergleichbaren Geräte TS-453B (mit SD Card Slot) sowie das TS-453A. Hier findet ihr alle drei Geräte im Vergleich bzw. Überblick. Alle drei Geräte kommen mit einem Intel Celeron Quad-Core Prozessor und einem Embedded Linux als Basis von QTS. Die Geräte verfügen über je zwei Steckplätze für den Arbeitsspeicher, wobei die 453B DDR3L Ram bis zu 1866 MHz unterstützt. Einbauen lassen sich jeweils "4 x 2,5-Zoll- oder 3,5-Zoll-SATA" HDDs mit 6-Gb/s, bzw. 3-Gb/s" (Hot-Swap-fähig). Die Erweiterungsgehäuse UX-800P und UX-500P werden ebenfalls von allen drei Devices unterstütz. Alle verfügen über einen Infrarotempfänger (IR). Unterstützt werden "RM-IR002, RM-IR003 und MCE" (Bmini ohne IR003). Als Dateisystem wird EXT4 unterstütz, sowie für externe Festplatten zudem "EXT3, EXT4, NTFS, FAT32, HFS+". Beim 453B kommt aufgrund des SD-Card-Readers noch "extFAT" hinzu. Auch Funktionen wie z.B. Portbündelung (Link-Aggregation) , Netzwerkdiensterkennung (UPnP / Bonjour), Virtuelles LAN (VLAN), WLAN über USB Adapter, AES 256-Bit-Verschlüsselung incl. Verschl. ext. HDDs und Ordnerverschl. (das 453Bmini nur AES-NI) bringen die Geräte mit. Gemeinsamkeiten TS-453Bmini vs. TS-453A vs. TS-453B Neben RAID0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 5+ Spare sowie Raid 6 und 10 geht auch die RAID-Wiederherstellung, die Online RAID-Kapazitätserweiterung sowie Online-RAID-Level-Migration. This video shows a simple mechanical flaw in the QNAP TS-453a. Update: QNAP has contacted me via Youtube comment, Twitter, and Amazon comment. They've assured me that they will send the screws I need for free via mail. (In contrast to buying the screws for $31 from QNAP or $9 for a similar screw type on Amazon.) The point I was trying to make is that this is a common issue. People have made developed forum threads and in depth conversations about this. Designing a unit that works with standard issue screws is what I'd like to see in the future. On QNAP's circuitry and software, excellent product. The only other system I've worked with that beats QNAP in RAID presentation and performance is SnapServer. That's a compliment.
