Я глубоко убежден, что NAS нужен каждому, кто фанатеет от технологий и хочет круто всё оформить у себя дома. Это не только внешнее хранилище, на которое можно скидывать архви фоточек (кст, зачем это деалть в ввек гугл фото?). На NAS'е можно развернуть HomeBridge и подружить Xiaomi с Apple Home, даже если изначально поддержки эпл хоум нет. И вообще построить полноценный смарт хоум. Можно автоматически архивировать и делать копию своего Mac на сервак при помощи Apple Time Machine. Можно очень удобно организовать просмотр кино. It was time to get a large capacity hard drive. So, while shopping at Costco we came across the WD ( Western Digital ) 8TB My Book hard drive. Coming in at only $189 Canadian dollars, this seemed like a really good deal. Plus we took the time to check best buys price and they had what looked like the same drive for $214. Upgrading my Synology 1815+ taking out a 2TB and putting in a 8TB,, this one : This is a big harddrive, and 8TB is a lot of storages,, and here it cost me just over $300. I could have gotten a external 8TB drive a bit cheaper,, bur the price difference was just 120 dkr. When I bought my Synology DS 411j back in 2011 I also bought 4 WD Green 2TB drives, after 3,,ish years I needed more storages, so I started to update to 3TB,, I got two, and then I decided t go for 4TB Drives instead. I have this house, it is 168 Square Meters / ² and it is full, of half-finished projects. I love working with heating, insulation, Servers, computers, Datacenter, green power, alternative energy, solar, wind and more. I'm torn on this review. Amazon Link: Prime Free Trial: It is a good looking NAS device, supposed to be 3 TB. It was easy to power up and find on the network, also easy to set up an online account to view from anywhere in the world. Amazon link: Two big downsides though: The software that comes with it to create a backup doesn't work with this device!!! the only thing you can do is back up to either another portable WD device that it does work with, like the Passport devices. You can sync folders but this is not the same as scheduled back up that can help in the event of an OS reinstall for example. I have had to rely on the File History Backup option that comes with Windows. Secondly, when you boot this up out of the box, there isn't 3TB free, there is only , which is a big chunk of memory to be eaten up before you even start to use it. And lastly, I cant see what percentage other people are using of the memory, just the total available. So in review. It does what I want it to do, but the Back-up side of it is done with Windows software and not that supplied by WD. I can access the Windows back up files from anywhere so that's good. It was easy to get online and find it on the network when originally powered up. It looks good 3 stars out of 5 because of the back up issues and cost though. I ran into some serious issues with my WD My Book Duo RAID hard drive. It was working perfectly fine but then one day it was unmounted from the desktop and I couldn't see it with Disk Utility. The drive had disappeared from my operating system with no way to access the files. Was it a failed enclosure? Was there some weird WD encryption to blame? Here's what I discovered.
