Synology sent over their DX513 expansion bay to add on to my DS916+ NAS and I now have FIFTY TERABYTES of space to fill up with my Amazon Cloud Drive archives. SWEET! I'm working hard behind the scenes and with the help of Synology to fix my storage concerns addressed in previous videos. A short-term solution to this will be beefing up my "Edit Bae" NAS with the Synology Disk Station DX513 5-Bay Expansion Unit to let me grab a quick local copy of my data from the cloud. This is a beast of an expansion and connects via eSATA to the DS916+ that I already use for my daily workflow. This thing can hold up to 50TB of storage, and I'm hoping to work with Seagate to hit that ceiling! Hello. This video shows you how I replaced the hard drives to the Synology DX513 expansion unit. The DX513 is connected to my Nas Synology DS1515+ and offers a read speed with link aggregation of 450MB/sec and write 396MB/sec. The Synology system works outrightly and handles a great deal of data on my home network. The single unit can accommodate 5 hard disks It works perfectly remotely, and is easily manageable. My Synology DS1618+ is getting full, update dilemma, lock in and disappointment. There's a lot to cover in this video starting from the fact that my Synology is filling up fast with all of the project that I am doing. So this video will offer a few solutions on how I may approach this, along with the pros and cons for each of the update options. And there seems to be a lot of cons for some scenarios. I'll also talk about the current Synology line up in the 6 bays + NAS as of this video release May 2022 as well. As we get to more bays in the plus series, there are more disappointment that ensue. As a creative, I go through so much storage. Whether I’m storing photos from a shoot, backing up my computer, or storing files from these YouTube videos; I easily use 100gb of storage a week. I hate having 10 different hard drives with some projects stored on one and other projecfs stored on an other. I want one hard drive that has everything one it, and I want to be able to access these files from anywhere in the world. After looking into cloud storage options like Google Drive, BackBlaze, and Dropbox; I found that alot of these options are pretty expensive. So the Synology DS920+ NAS (Network Attached Storage) is by far the best option. Yes it’s a huge upfront cost but worth it in the long run.
