We've been shooting more video than we ever imagined we would. And boy, do 4K video files fill up a hard drive in a hurry? Storage has been running thin for a while now so, we finally went ahead and got ourselves a nice big NAS. This 48TB Synology DS918+ NAS is just what the doctor ordered for storing and sharing all of our hours and hours of multi-camera footage. This video shows the installation of RAM, SSD's and Iron Wolf 12TB Hard Drives. We put in 8GB (2x4GB) of Synology RAM, 2-500GB Samsung N70EVO SSD drives and 4x12TB Seagate Iron Wolf Hard Drives. We thought an instructional video explaining how to install RAM, SSD's and HD's would be helpful but to be honest, once we got started we realized that working on this Synology NAS is a piece of cake, so this simple visual demonstration will likely be all you need. Everything you need to install to get going is able to be installed from the outside of unit without taking it apart. You are literally installed and up and running in minutes. And that's just one of the many amazing features of the Synology DS918+. We'll keep you up to date on how we use the NAS and how it performs over time. Thanks for watching! This is the Synology DS918+. It's a 4-bay network attached storage that I'll be using to store my photos and videos as well as a plex media server. It has a quad core CPU that can burst up to , has 4GB DDR3 RAM as well as 2 NVME SSD slots for caching. It supports 4K hardware transcoding so it'll be perfect as a plex media server.
