Kodak Pro series UV filter | How to identify a bad UV filter from good UV filter
Kodak Pro series UV filter | How to identify a bad UV filter from good UV filter
There are lot of UV filters in the market. Some are very cheap. Some are very expensive. To be safe, people buy the expensive branded ones. Its not always necessary to buy a piece of glass for such expensive price.
Most filters available in the market does not actually block the UV rays.
The cameras in market now a days are not affected by UV rays because they have built in filters that protects itself from UV rays. TO prevent degradation in image quality you need to get good quality filters.
It is always best to buy Professional filters, if at all you are going to buy it. Otherwise, there will be a degradation the image quality. I have got a Kodak Pro Series UV filter which costs much cheaper that B+H or Zeiss filters
The Kodak Pro series filter comes in a nice case for safe storage. It has 16 layer coating on it. Let me open this.
I have another filter which I got a while back, when I had little knowledge about filters.
Let’s compare the Professional one with the lower end filter.
There are two simple ways to find out whether a UV filter is a good one or bad one.
Have both the filters in your hand and see an object. If You can see through it clearly it’s a good filter. You can clearly see the smaller one wins.
The pack says “Kodak Pro series filter are made from high quality solid optical glass with the latest 16 layer coating technology”
How to know if the Multi layer coating in the filter is true. Try to reflect white light, if the reflection is the same color, it’s a bad filter. If the reflection is a different color, it’s a good filter.
Also a good filter protects your lens from scratches and fingerprints
I hope I was able to help you identify a good filter from a not so good filter. If you liked the video, please click on the like button. Hit on subscribe if you want more videos like this. If you have any questions let me know.

UV Filters the classic among the protection filters! This filter consists of clear, completely colourless glass with the highest possible transparency. The UV filter blocks the invisible ultra violet component of light from the sky, which can cause blur and to which many colour films react with a blue cast. UV filter are ideal for high altitudes, in the mountains, by the sea and in regions with very clean air allowing the pictures to gain brilliance and avoiding any blue casts. In the days of film cameras, UV filters where quite useful because film is very susceptible to ultraviolet light, and these filters would cut down on the atmospheric haze that would result from excessive UV light in settings like sunny days on the beach or at high altitude where the air is thinner. However, modern digital camera sensors are rather insensitive to UV light because they have their own block and filters built in the protect from everything from Infrared to Ultraviolet light. So then getting UV filters for digital cameras doesn't make much sense - at least not for their original purpose. UV filters can protect your lens from getting damaged from dirt or scratches because it provides an extra layer of protection over your front lens glass. But beware of buying cheap filters because they can degrade your image quality making your footage look soft. So, if you do get a UV filter for your lens, be sure to invest in a good one so that you can protect your image sharpness as well as your camera lens!

Protective/UV filter & lens test against impact damage
This is 2 lenses being put to the test to see if a UV filter actually protects a lens like many people think. A 2.5 oz (71g) pilot point drill bit was dropped onto the lenses/filters from about 4 feet. In a nutshell, while the filter added some protection, in each test the lenses suffered damage to some degree. I don't think a filter will protect a lens from catastrophic damage (there are unbreakable filters out there), nor do I think a filter is really necessary for normal conditions. You can draw your own conclusions. Це відео автоматично взято із YouTube за назвою товару, можливий неправильний пошук.

DynaSun Set 55mm Slim Circular Polarising Filter with Slim Lens Protector, Ultra Violet Filter, Snap-On Centre Pinch Cord Front Lens Cap for Canon, Nikon, Pentax, Olympus, Samsung, Sony, Panasonic, Fujifilm Camera
Filter UV The DynaSun UV Protector Filter is a general use, clear filter that helps to absorb ultraviolet light and reduce the bluish cast of daylight. This filter prevents foggy effects in distant landscape and creates clearness effect. This filter is especially useful when photographing at high altitudes or around bodies of water. No additional coloration or contrast is provided, allowing you to pair this filter with others.
Filter CPL The Circular Polarizer Filters DynaSun helps to reduce reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface. Polarizing filters are used to select which light rays enter your camera lens. This filter arranges, and filters, the directionally polarized light perpendicularly to the reflected light, allowing for the absorption of much of this light. This results in a noticeable reduction of glare and reflections from non-metallic surfaces and an increase in the saturation of skies and foliage. The effect can be seen through the viewfinder and changed by rotating the filter. The filter factor varies according to how the filter is rotated and its orientation to the sun. Feature of this filter is a filter ring with front filter threads. This allows the attachment of other filters or lens hoods while still maintaining the vignette-reduction capabilities of a filter.
The Circular Polarizer Filters DynaSun is the best way to make the clouds stand out, increase or decrease the saturation of the ocean or increase or decrease the reflection off the water. Ideal when shooting into glass or windows since it will either increase or decrease reflections. The Circular Polarizer Filters DynaSun enables you to achieve a level of optical performance previously unavailable. This filter eliminates ultraviolet rays from outdoor shots as well as polarizing the light to remove reflections, and increase colour saturation, without affecting the overall colour balance. Along with a UV or Skylight Filter, a polarizing filter should be a part of everyone's gear bag. It can turn a run-of-the-mill image into a stunning, creative photo by increasing colour saturation. Note: Circular polarizer are specifically designed for use with auto-focus SLR cameras (They will also work on manual systems without problems)
The DynaSun UV Protector Filter helps protect your valuable investment from dust, moisture and scratches, which can lead to costly repairs. It is also useful as a general protective filter to leave on lenses at all times. Improves contrast and colour saturation by reducing the effects of ultraviolet light and atmospheric dust and haze in sunny landscapes, including mountain, marine and aerial scenes. Can be used in combination with polarizer for stunning scenic, or to protect the front lens element from dirt, fingerprints, and scratches.
SNAP CAP The DynaSun Centre Pinch Snap-On Lens Cap front lens cap with a squeeze, spring and snap-on mechanism. They're easy to put on and take off, especially when using lens hoods, and they stay on. Lens caps protect your lens from scratches, fingerprints and the elements when the lens is not in use. It's always good to have a spare in your camera bag, too. With the Cap Keeper, don't lose any more lens caps.

I've never understood the point of UV filters - they go back to the past days of film. We frequently get asked about their purpose on modern cameras so in this quick demonstration I run a simple "with & without" comparison.
I hope you enjoy,

Smashed a UV filter?
Smashed the front element of your lens (not using a UV filter)?
I maintain that a smashed UV filter doesn't mean it protected your lens (like a secret service agent taking the bullet) - rather it smashed and arguably it would not have had the same impact on your lens itself.
Love to hear your thoughts - this is based on my experience, and as I say there may be some specific situations it is useful, but for 99% of people, and in 99% of situation, they are a total waste of money.

In this video, I answer the question of UV Filters degrading quality. We all know lenses cost a ton. So is it bad to put a filter in front of them? I tested this one frame with no filter, a high end filter and a cheapy one. So does it matter?

You (probably) DON'T Need Polarizing, UV, or ND Filters: Simulate them for FREE!
See the follow-up video here:
ND, UV, and polarizing filters can get expensive, they're a pain to use, they reduce your image quality, and you NEVER seem to have them when you need them! I show you how to get better results without using filters, saving you money and time. Share with your friends to save them some cash!
Regarding polarizing filters:
Several people have commented that polarizing filters cut glare and reflection, and you can't replicate that in Photoshop. That's true, and I do demonstrate it in the video.
Yes, you can create scenarios where a polarizing filter does something unique. However, in many years of shooting, I've rarely found that removing the glare creates a "good" picture.
Back in the film days, I used a polarizing filter almost constantly--anytime I was outdoors, and often indoors. I probably learned from the same old photography books that you learned from, and that was common practice. In the film era, post-processing wasn't usually an option, and polarizing filters really did often produce better pictures.
As I moved to digital, I continued to use the polarizing filter. Often, I would take a shot (say, of a waterfall) and then realize I forgot to put on my polarizing filter. So, I'd attach my polarizing filter (as my teachers had always taught me) and take a second shot.
I took dozens, maybe more than 100, of these accidental before-and-after shots. Virtually every single time, the shot without the polarizing filter looked better. If anything, it just needed the blue sky luminance dropped a bit for a prettier sky (as I demonstrate in the video).
There were times when the shot with the polarizing filter looked better--but those were never "good" shots, anyway. For example, if you want to take a picture of koi fish in a pond, using a polarizing filter will better show the fish.
But, did you make enough from that koi fish picture to pay for the polarizing filter and the time you spent connecting the filter? I've done that exact shot. I didn't make any money from it, and nobody cared about it, because it's a picture of fish in a pond, and that's pretty boring.
Even then, in my personal opinion, the shot without the polarizing filter looked better because it showed the glare on the top of the water. That's natural; that's what our eyes see. The polarizing filter is like an irreversable Instagram filter. It changes your photo in an unnatural way.
Commenters pointed out some legit uses for a polarizing filter. One commenter reproduces artwork in controlled conditions, and that's a great reason to use a polarizing filter. Another commenter photographs cars by stacking multiple photos of them, adjusting the polarizer effect up and down, and then carefully painting in different parts from each picture with the best amount of glare.
Those are legit uses, and those people should use polarizing filters. But those aren't common uses.
Before you say I'm wrong and that photographers should spend $80 on a good polarizing, carry it around, and attach and remove it as needed, take this challenge: the next time you reach for your polarizing filter, take a shot without it. Then, take your normal polarized shot. Do this for a few months... and look at the before-and-after results of those pictures you'd actually want to share or print.
Now, ask yourself these questions:
* How often is the polarized shot really better?
* In a blind test, how often do other people think the polarized shot is better?
* Can you easily recreate the positive effects of the polarizer in post-processing?
* If you found shareable pictures made better with the polarizer, was it worth the cost and trouble of the filter?
* Would you recommend a new photographer spend $80 (per lens filter diameter) on polarizing filters, carry those polarizers around everywhere, and attach and remove them when necessary?
I've done that test quite gradually over the last 15 years... and, as you know, I've decided I can't recommend new photographers buy polarizers. They don't seem like the best use of a photographer's time and money.
I'm open to other opinion, though, especially if you can show me actual with-and-without pictures. I'm just one guy, with one set of experiences, and I appreciate hearing other points of view.
Give me your side-by-side results. Change my mind with evidence! You can try linking your photos in the comments, but if that doesn't work, tweet me (TonyNorthrup) or even email me (tony@). Це відео автоматично взято із YouTube за назвою товару, можливий неправильний пошук.
