What's up everybody! Check out this quick video tutorial showing how to use old teleconverters with adapted vintage lenses on the Sony A6000. Wouldn’t it be nice if there was an affordable, lightweight, pock size, option to double the range of your current lens without having to lug around a costly second telephoto lens…enter in teleconverters to attempt to solve all your problems. Almost all the old teleconverters that have come into my possession have come by way camera bag lots that I purchased from thrift stores, yard sales, estate sales, and eBay. These teleconverters were made for many different mounts, I personally have teleconverters made for the Canon, Nikon, Pentax, Minolta, and even M42 lenses. In this quick review we’ll specifically be looking at a Vivitar 2X teleconverter that is made for the Minolta mount. Now teleconverters will get you closer to the action, but they will also cause you to loose a couple stops in light. In this video we’ll take a 360 look around the teleconverter, attach it to a lens, adapt it to the Sony A6000, and run out to take some sample shots. There are so many reason to like these old lenses and teleconverters. When Ricoh’s engineers designed this lens the team worked together to design optics, hardware, a housing, and an interface that all combined to make shooting this lens a delightful experience. They succeeded. This is an incredible lens and I’ve never met its equal. In fact, it would be hard for me to identify more than a couple of other lenses that are even in the ballpark. Yes, this lens it heavy, and yes if you hike all day with it your neck and arms will probably be sore the next few days. That said, the photos you take with it will last far longer and will decidedly turn peoples’ heads. The work that went into this lens’ design truly paid off. The lens is stunning. It does everything well. It’s a generalist that excels at each task, like a cardshark who knows the rules of every card game and how to win them all, the HD FA* 50mm makes every other 50mm lens for your Pentax kit obsolete. And it should. Given that this lens, still today three years after its release, costs about $1,000 new, it should deliver on the promise of the price. I’ve said in previous videos that if something costs three times as much as another thing, it needs to be three times as good. I have the previous 50mm 1.4 Pentax lens, too, and Ricoh sells in new online for $350 as of this video. So is the HD FA* three times as good? Easily. Easily and then some. This is one of those pieces of camera gear that I will own for as long as I am able to use a camera. Like all of Pentax’s cameras, their lenses show their dedication to quality design, thoughtful interface and user experience, and exceptional delivery on the tasks to which a piece of camera equipment is given – good image quality, easy and intuitive usability, long-term reliability, and a wholly enjoyable shooting experience. Attacco Pentax K, è stata prodotta tra il 1977 e il 1984. Il diaframma spazia da f4 a f32. Raggiunge un rapporto di ingrandimento di 1:2, quindi non è un vero e proprio obiettivo macro. The one on the left is the Pentax, and the one on the right is the Canon. I compared it the best I can against a Canon 7DMKII with a Canon 500MM F4. This will give all Pentax owner an idea on the image quality. The rumor was that at 450MM, the image is soft. I hope this test remedy those rumors. After the test, I was very surprised on how it stacks against a 500 MM prime lens. The Canon 500MM F4 has a creamer Bokah, sharper image, and also excellent on the Chromatic Aberration. Also at F4, the accuracy is more than likely faster. The Pentax still delivered an extremely good result. Its nothing to be ashamed of. Good sharpness, the AF was great! it can track birds for sure. Keep in mind, all shots I took with the Pentax K1 were all handheld, no tripod. The weather condition was quite colorful as it changed so rapidly and fast. Foggy, Snowing, raining,windy, and sunny all in one day. Ice in my boots, a video camera rig on my other arm. It was wonderful! I live for this!! All in all it was a great experience with the lens. I really enjoyed it! cheers ! The Pentax 77mm f/1.8 FA Limited is a lens that every Pentax user should consider. This lens is one of the marquis lenses in the Pentax portfolio and the image quality on these holds up well. As of this video’s recording, this lens was introduced twenty-four years ago with a slight update in 2021 to introduce new coatings. Other than the coatings update, the 2021 and later version of this lens is the same as the version used in this video. Not a lot of camera gear reaches the two-decade mark for production. Even less reaches that mark and then keeps being made with a relatively incremental update. That simple statement ought to tell you all you need to know about the 77mm FA Limited: This lens is so good that no reason exists to provide an improvement. Sometimes people just get things right – a baseball connects well and lands outside the park, a rocket takes off from and then lands again on a ship in the ocean, or a marbled wagyu ribeye comes off the cast iron with a beautiful crust and a warm, pink middle. Sometimes we people do things well. The 77mm FA Limited is that home run, that landed rocket ship, and that wagyu ribeye served just hot enough to melt foie gras. Pentax has released, now, four full-frame Limited lenses. That’s four amazing reasons to be in the Pentax ecosystem. But, if I’m honest, the 77mm alone is really the only reason that you need.
