На PlayStation — Nier: Replicant с забавным пареньком в шортиках, а на Xbox — Nier: Gestalt с более матёрым дядькой. Судя по всему, второй вариант был сделан под давлением со стороны американского подразделения Square Enix, в котором тогда, видно, решили, что западным геймерам вряд ли зайдёт миловидная анимешная мордашка протагониста, лучше чего-нибудь более брутальное, в духе того же Кратоса. В итоге только такой, второй вариант за пределы страны восходящего солнца и отправился. В любом случае, официально. NIER - NieR Replicant ... No começo de Nier, o protagonista Nier estava tentando encontrar uma cura para uma doença chamada rabisco preto. Cada escolha que ele faz no jogo, desde fazer um pacto com um livro de magia bem sarcástico até se juntar com a garota mais boca-suja de anime, Kaine, é guiada por esse objetivo maior. A ideia era que matando o principal vilão, o maldito Shadowlord, ele conseguiria alcançar esse objetivo. O problema é que só descobrimos que não é bem assim depois que o vilão já está morto. O jogo começa com Nier e sua filha vivendo num mundo pós-apocalíptico sem explicação. Mas matar o Shadowlord causa uma reação em cadeia que resulta no fim do mundo. O pior é que ele não fazia ideia disso, o cara só queria encontrar uma cura para uma doença terrível. E bem, ele conseguiu. Fleeting Words es la canción que acompaña dos historias en la nueva versión de NieR Replicant lanzada el año pasado. Por un lado, la historia de Úrsula (la señora del faro) que espera eternamente a que su amado regrese (si bien la canción no aparece durante la primera parte). Por otro, la de Louise y el cartero, introducida en la nueva versión como parte de la trama principal. La conexión entre ambas es bastante sutil: el cartero le menciona a Louise que dicha canción era cantada por Úrsula constantemente, y que de tanto escucharla él mismo la había aprendido. Luego de haber escrito la letra basándome en la primera historia, me di cuenta de que sería monótono repetirla en la segunda parte de la canción, por lo que decidí aprovechar que la melodía se repite para hacer una segunda traducción, esta vez basado en la historia de Louise. Una transición del fondo del video acompaña este cambio para poder visualizarlo mejor. El hecho de que haya confeccionado dos traducciones diferentes para la misma melodía resalta la realidad de que existen infinitas interpretaciones para una misma canción en lenguaje Chaos. De todos modos, lo importante es centrarse en el sentimiento que nos transmite la canción. Lo que yo intenté fue conectar poéticamente las historias presentadas en el juego con la canción que las acompaña. Espero les guste!

The original version on PS3 and Xbox 360 was sort of a cult classic, but it completely bombed in terms of sales. And it’s crazy that a sequel ever got greenlit. But the gamble paid off, because NieR Automata ended up being a smash hit, selling 7 million copies worldwide. So, modernizing and re-releasing the original Nier game made a lot of sense, because the vast majority of fans never experienced it. But is this new version actually worth playing? Well, Replicant may not be as good as its sequel, but it’s still a great game. The revamped graphics and gameplay make this older title quite palatable, but the game still shows its age at times and can feel a little grindy. The combat is engaging, and the characters are complex, but you’ll have to finish the game multiple times to get the true ending. Things certainly get repetitive, but those who stick it out are rewarded with a story that’s amazingly powerful and completely unique.
