When I pushed the power button on my Dell Optiplex 790 this morning, I heard a "pop" and saw a flash of light coming from inside of it. My initial thought was that the motherboard was toast. Then I noticed the test button on the power supply. Normally, pushing the test button would cause a green light to come on. I had nothing when pushing the test button. So, I remembered that my stepson had left a broken custom PC in the basement. I went down to the basement and pulled the 1000 watt EVGA power supply out of it. Then after some manipulation, I was able to get it into the Dell case. Once I got everything connected, I pushed the power button on the PC and it came back to life. Normally, I wouldn't try cramming such a large power supply into a Dell Optiplex. But, since it was available and didn't cost me anything, I thought that I would give it a try. This is one of the worst desktop computer cleaning jobs we've done. This was given to us after providing a new Dell Optiplex 5060. This old Dell 790 was cased in 7 years of dirt, grime and nicotine. The grime was beyond a normal air blower clean up so we completely disassembled for cleaning. Due to the decent CPU, we added some additional RAM and our next steps for this unit is to replace the HDD with an SSD. Even with the hard drive it still performs well so this will be donated to our local church for use.

Zotac revealed its GeForce GT 1030 graphics card, which features a low-profile, single-slot design and consumes 30 watts of power. (EVGA revealed three cards of its own, too.) Zotac positioned its GeForce GT 1030 as a multimedia upgrade for low-end PCs. Nvidia’s GT 1030 GPU is based on the company’s Pascal architecture, but it’s not powerful enough for more than casual gaming. The GeForce GT 1030 is better suited to accelerate video and photo editing, and for high-resolution video playback. Zotac included two video outputs on its GT 1030. The card includes a single-link DVI-D port that can power a 1920x1200 display, and it also has an HDMI port, which can handle a 4K display at 60Hz. Zotac chose a compact design for the GeForce GT 1030 so that it would “fit in 99% of systems.” The card features a single-slot active cooling solution with a small nine-blade fan to ensure the GPU stays cool in cramped cases. The board is inches tall; Zotac includes a low-profile bracket so that you can install the card in compact desktop systems. You shouldn’t have to worry about power supply compatibility, either. Zotac’s GeForce GT 1030 pulls all of its power (maximum 30W) through the PCI-E slot. A FreeDOS Bootable USB is needed for Dell Models that have a SMBIOS of (for example the Dell OptiPlex 390/790-3020/7020 and the Latitude E Series). Excuse the dodgy phone camera I will be learning how to screen capture on pc for my next video I think lol.... Little fps test on fortnite chapter 2 season 4 and it is very playable the cpu is maxing out at 100% a lot of the time so suggests a slight bottleneck with the i5 2400 and the gtx1650 although fortnite is a very cpu intensive game,.. All in all I think the optiplex pulled through again :)

Me llegaron estas board que fueron retiradas de un pc corporativo dell optiplex 790. Resulta que al no tener una serie de conectores del cajón original, al encenderla arroja una serie de alertas, esto no genera mayor inconveniente a la hora de usarla, solo presionar el botón F1 para que el sistema avance. Logre quitar 3 de las 4 alertas, excepto la alerta del sensor de temperatura. A continuación les mostrare como ir quitando las alertas una x una. music by:
