Dell PowerEdge R630 - This will be the third video, focused on Drives, in a new video series covering different aspects of the R630. This video series will include: 1. CPUs - 2. Memory - 3. Power Supplies - 14. How to Rack - If there is anything else you would like to see, then please drop a comment and let us know. We want this video series to be a great tool for the Dell community. Ask questions. Answer questions. Help each other out. Let's dive into the drives. The Dell PowerEdge R630 supports three types of drives: SAS, SATA and Solid State Drives. SAS drives have speeds of 10K to 15K RPM and max out at per drive. SATA drives operate at RPM and max out at 2TB per drive. SSDs clock in at 3GB/s, 6GB/s or 12GB/s and max out at per drive. I would not be surprised to see some comments in the near future stating a higher max capacity, and look forward to seeing what other users have played around with. This is the max we have tried for the 3 different styles. I would like to also note the 8 Bay and 10 Bay chassis utilize 2.5" SFF drives. There is a unicorn chassis that has 24 x 1.8" drives that is incredibly rare. The 10 Bay chassis has an upgrade kit that will allow for the last 4 drives to utilize U.2 2.5" NVMe drives. This is a pretty cool feature and we will show how to install this upgrade kit in our NVMe video. We will also demonstrate how to properly install new drives. This is incredibly easy since they are hot swap. You can install a drive while the server is running. We will go over how to test with Dell Diagnostics and HDD Sentinel. Dell Diag will test more than just the drives, but we will utilize this test to make sure our drives are performing well. Dell will provide an amber light for predictive failure. This is very common on 15K SAS drives because their bearings wear out over time. HDD Sentinel is a good tool to check Health Score and Power On Hours. Dell PowerEdge C2100 Server – In this video, we will provide a helpful "Memory How To Upgrade Guide" as well as review CPUs options & recommendations. We will show different upgrade tips for proper RAM installation. We will provide a thorough review on best practices for configuring your memory modules and a general overview on the different options including sizes, speeds and type of memory supported. Let's begin with the memory! The Dell C2100 runs on DDR3 memory and has 18 DIMM slots. RAM capacity sizes include: 2GB 4GB 8GB 16GB or 32GB DDR3 server memory. Speed options include: 1066MHz, 1333MHz or 1600MHz. Please note: 1600 will clock down to 1333. There is only 1 type of compatible RAM: ECC Registered (RDIMMs). We get asked all the time, will Load Reduced Memory work inside the Dell PowerEdge C2100 server? Unfortunately, Load Reduced LRDIMMs is not compatible with the C2100 or any other 11th generation Dell PowerEdge server. The max memory configuration is 384GB via (12 x 32GB) DDR3 1600MHz ECC Registered Server Memory. Dell’s spec sheet will show the highest is 288GB via (18 x 16GB). However, we have tested & confirmed 384GB will work and is the true max memory capacity for the C2100 server. The Dell PowerEdge C2100 runs on two CPUs, which are LGA1366 socket. This means the C2100 is powered by dual Intel 5500 or 5600 series CPUs. Options include dual core, quad core or hex core. We recommend two hex core as the price point is low these days. Some great options include: X5650, X5660, X5670 and L5645. Each Intel CPU supports nine DIMM slots. There are three Memory Channels per proc, which means three DIMMs per memory channel. That is bad news for quad rank memory as it will be effected by the rank rule. The rank rule states 8 ranks per memory channel. This is the reason you can only install 12 of the 32GB modules. You cannot install 18 quad rank DIMMs in the C2100. Dell yet again brings to the table another high-performing enterprise level server in a clean 2U form factor. A cheap way to test just one SAS drive at a time. this connector that run about $10 to $13 in cost, will allow you to hook up a failing SAS drive from a RAID group or storage pool and be able to test it on your local system by providing it with a SAS/SATA rated SAS controller. The motherboard is not rated to support SAS drives (unless a server mainboard with SAS controllers on board.). Dell PowerEdge C1100 Server – In this video, we will provide a helpful "Memory How To Guide." CPUs options will also be covered. We will demonstrate upgrade tips for proper RAM installation. We will provide a thorough review on best practices for configuring your memory modules and a general overview on the different options including sizes, speeds and type of memory supported. Let's begin with the memory! The Dell C1100 runs on DDR3 memory and has 18 DIMM slots. RAM size options include: 2GB 4GB 8GB 16GB or 32GB DDR3 server memory. Speed option include: 1066MHz, 1333MHz or 1600MHz. Please note: 1600 will clock down to 1333. There is only 1 option regarding the type of compatible RAM: ECC Registered (RDIMMs). We get asked frequently… Will Load Reduced Memory work inside my Dell C1100 server? Unfortunately, Load Reduced LRDIMMs is not compatible with the 11th generation of Dell PowerEdge servers. The absolute max configuration is 384GB via (12 x 32GB) DDR3 1600MHz ECC Registered Server Memory. Dell’s spec sheet will show the highest is 288GB via (18 x 16GB). However, we have confirmed 384GB will work and is the true max. The Dell PowerEdge C1100 has two CPU sockets, which are LGA1366. This means the C1100 runs on dual Intel 5500 or 5600 series CPUs. Options include dual core, quad core or hex core. We recommend dual hex core as the price point is low these days. Each Intel CPU supports nine DIMM slots. There are three Memory Channels per proc, which means three DIMMs per memory channel. That is bad news for quad rank memory as it will be effected by the rank rule. The rank rule states 8 ranks per memory channel. This is the reason you can only install 12 of the 32GB modules. Dell yet again brings to the table another high-performing enterprise level server in a clean 1U form factor. Запуск серверного блока питания DELL NPS-210AB. Сегодня мы будем запускать серверный блок питания. Для этого в колодке перемыкаем контакты указанные в видео. Включаем блок питания в сеть 220 вольт. Блок питания стартует и тут же выключается. Для того чтобы блок питания не выключался после включения, нужно пяти вольтовую шину питания нагрузить. Нагрузить можно лампочкой накаливания или резистором мощностью на 2 вата. Я установил резистор на 82 килом и мощностью 2 вата. После этого блок питания больше не выключался. Отключил ненужные провода, вывел их и собрал в пучки. Все блок питания готов.

Dell PowerEdge R810 server memory upgrade tips and how to properly install modules and configure your system. In this video, we will provide a general "How To" guide and solve the mystery of what really is the max config for the PowerEdge R810. Part of the 11th Generation from Dell, the PowerEdge R810 is a 2U server with four processor sockets. This is it's most unique feature. The R810 is powered by Intel Xeon E7-4800 and E7-8800, or 6500 and 7500 series processors, which are LGA1567 sockets. Inside you will find 32 memory slots supporting DDR3 memory modules. You can utilize 1GB 2GB 4GB 8GB 16GB or up to 32GB Memory Modules. Please note. Only R810 Gen 2 (ii) servers will support 32GBs and you must use low voltage DIMMs paired with E7 processors. Speed options are 1066MHz or 1333MHz. This system is known to clock down to 1066MHz. There is only 1 type of RAM supported by Dell's R810: ECC Registered, also known as RDIMM. Load Reduced, also known as LRDIMM, is not supported by the R810. ECC Unbuffered DIMMs are also not supported. Only RDIMMs. The total maximum configuration will top out a 1TB of RAM via (32 x 32GB) DDR3 PC3L-10600R 1333MHz ECC Reg Server Memory. Please keep in mind you must have a Dell PowerEdge R810 Gen 2 servers for 32GBs modules to work. This is a common issue. If you do have the R810 Gen 1, then you can max out at 512GB via 32 x 16GB. We hear a lot of important questions regarding the R810 so we thought it would be helpful to share some answers to common questions and concerns. How can I tell if my Dell PowerEdge R810 is Gen 1 or Gen 2? This is a great question. You can find this information on your Service Tag. Pull out the service tag. If you see what looks like two roman numeral... something like this... II .... then you have the Gen 2. If you do not see the " II " then you have the R810 gen 1. Why can't we use LRDIMMs with the Dell R810? Unfortunately the entire Dell 11th Generation of servers does not support load reduced modules, including the R810. Is the Rank Rule an issue with the R810? Luckily, it is not an issue. The R810 has 2 DIMMs per memory channel so quad rank DIMMs are supported and are not effected by the Rank Rule. Can we use 64GB DDR3 ECC Registered memory modules with the PowerEdge R810? Unfortunately, 64GB DDR3 ECC Reg was never invented and only LRDIMMs support 64GB DIMMs in DDR3 world.
