Surprise lol Actually gonna keep this one..... RAM is already on the way, but probably wont make you all watch that again. This (in theory) should be my only host for a while, I plan on doing dual 20 Core Platinum's eventually, but the 10 core is just fine for right now. This machine will be very helpful with me trying to move away from multiple physical hosts, and virtualize them, as well as getting into HCI and SDN. Yes, you could have gone with a 13th gen (R730), hell even at 12th gen probably could do the job, but this is the best option looking into the future with a really fast hybrid HBA/RAID controller(I plan on multiple SSD arrays) and lots of options for CPU's. Ask questions. Answer questions. Help each other out. In this video, we will show the R730's various NIC options and even demonstrate how to install your network card. This is a fairly simple process and will be an easy installation overall. You can install a PCIe NIC or a Daughter Card. I recommend the Daughter Card for 2 reasons. First, you will not use a PCIe slot with the daughter card, which will leave that slot open for future upgrades or requirements. Second, the daughter card is quad port, whereas, the PCIe version is dual port. You can install 4 x 1GbE, 4 x 10GbE or 2 x 1GbE + 2 x 10GbE. There are RJ45 and SFP+ options available. We will provide a thorough list towards the final portion of our video. I would not be surprised to hear there are plenty of other cards that work as well.
