There are also some buttons on the side of the rail that need to be pushed to unlock and slide back into the rack. Again, this is a very simple video, but we wanted to make sure we covered all major aspects of the R430, including rails and rack mounting. This is a fairly simple process and will be an easy installation overall. There is no daughter card slot in the rear of the R430. Only PCIe network cards can be used. There are RJ45, SFP, SFP+, SFP28, QSFP, QSFP56 and more options available. There are also cards with speeds of 1GbE, 8GbE, 10GbE, 16GbE, 25GbE, and more. We will provide a thorough list towards the final portion of our video. I would not be surprised to hear there are plenty of other cards that work as well. They are an LGA2011-3 socket, which means the R430 utilizes Intel Xeon E5-2600 v3 or v4 series. Please note, in order to use the v4 procs, make sure you have an updated BIOS. In general, we recommend keeping your system up to date for everything and will show exactly how to do this in our Mass Updates video. Below are some of the CPUs we recommend. We break it down into 3 categories: Low End, Value and High End. This is not a complete list and there are a ton of other great options within the E5-2600v3 and v4 series. Mass updates are done in the lifecycle controller, and updates multiple things at once. In this video, we will show how to perform mass updates on your R430 server via the Lifecycle Controller. You will need an active Internet connection, a Laptop/Desktop, and a NIC installed in your R430. You will also need some Ethernet cables to connect the devices. You will want to connect your R430 to your network, so it has Internet access. You can do this by connecting the R430's NIC to a switch or directly to the network. You will then set the server's IP address, so it can join the network. You can then access Dell's Update downloads catalog via HTTPS in the Lifecycle controller. Depending on the last time you updated your system, these updates can take hours. The speed and power of your system as well as the number of updates selected also plays a role in how long these updates will take. We run our servers overnight and sometimes come back in and the updates have not finished.... So yes, be patient and expect this to take a fair amount of time. i got tired of losing data by conventional external hard drives. so im stepping up the game a bit, this a 2009 or 2010 model R510. so pretty cheap on Ebay. along with all the other things i purchased for it. im still working on the software install. update video to follow once it's all set up. i will install plex. all music was downloaded using audioblocks with a paid subscription.

The first way is by setting a static IP. The second way is via DHCP. Setting a static IP address is a manually way of setting an IP address. DHCP on the other hand, allows for the system to have its IP automatically assigned when it joins a network. DHCP is by far the most common for the average user, but certain environments still use static IP addressing. We will go over both methods in our video and provide step by step instructions.
