Setting a static IP address is a manually way of setting an IP address. DHCP on the other hand, allows for the system to have its IP automatically assigned when it joins a network. DHCP is by far the most common for the average user, but certain environments still use static IP addressing. We will go over both methods in our video and provide step by step instructions. Each channel consists of 2 DIMM slots. Module speed options include 2133MT/s, 2400MT/s, and 2666MT/s. You can also put in 2933MT/s and 3200MT/s modules, but they will clock down to 2666MT/s. With an E-2100 CPU, the fastest speed that your modules will run at is 2666MT/s. For E-2200, the fastest memory speed is also 2666MT/s. Module capacity options include: 4GB, 8GB, 16GB, and 32GB. Dell’s spec sheet says that 32GB modules are not supported, however we’ve have been able to install 4x32GB modules. The R240 accepts only one type of RAM: ECC Unbuffered (ECC UDIMMs). Below are some of the CPUs that we recommend for the R240 server. This means the R630 utilizes Intel Xeon E5-2600 v3 or v4 series. Please note, in order to use the v4 procs, make sure you have an update to date BIOS. In general, we recommend keeping your system up to date for everything and will show exactly how to do this in our Mass Updates video. Below are some of the CPUs we recommend. The R340 has one LGA1151 socket, which means that the R340 accepts Intel Xeon E-2100 or E-2200 series processors. Intel Celeron G4900, Pentium G5400, Pentium G5500, and Core I3 9100 series processors are also supported. In the video specifically, we will focus on Intel Xeon E-2100 and E-2200 processors. The first way is by setting a static IP. The second way is via DHCP. Setting a static IP address is a manual way of setting an IP address. DHCP on the other hand, allows for the system to have its IP automatically assigned when it joins a network. DHCP is by far the most common for the average user, but certain environments still use static IP addressing. We will go over both methods in our video and provide step by step instructions.
