I have been looking for a great value wide angle lens for my Z system and have found the Nikon 17-35mm zoom to be a real bargain. Yes there are S wide angle zooms available but the are very expensive for the few times I ever need them, so I believe this is a very usable great value option. Test video for the auto focus are provided as well as a comprehensive description and evaluation.

This zoom lens..., AF-s Nikkor 17 35mm 1: ED has really some problems because it has really been used A LOT, some of the screws in the zoom section where really loose. It came back to the owner as a nice Paperwight... ;-) The screw threads in the aluminium tube for 4-5 screw where completely worn out, so i could just turn the screws with NO problem. The lens neede to be completly diassembled, and a new zoom section should be installed. It look's like it has been repaired by another person but too many screws where loose, and many of the soldering's on the circuit board where not really good made.... :-(

What it sounds like when the auto focus system squeaks, making a high-pitched noise on a Nikon 17-35mm f2.8 lens. This one still focused fine and accurately, but the sound was ear piercing. It’s something of concern if you’re considering this lens used or pre-owned.

Layman Terms: This is an old Nikon Nikkor 17-35mm lens SN: 248xxxx. I am selling it as faulty so inexperience photographers don't pick up this lens by accident. This lens had old issue with the Auto focus system. it was stuttering and/or stalling out when it was returned. I did some research 3 months ago and found a conversation about a similar problem that was resolved by adjusting the aperture ring & cleaning the CPU contact points. I don't know why it worked, but it did. I haven't had the problem since. These old lenses with minor issues might suit experienced photographers more than photographers without. Note: I meant to say D300S not D3s to get the BEEP sound.

Hi everyone-this is strictly an image quality comparison of these two lenses to give a coma/sharpness comparison. They are both really great lenses and meet needs for different uses, but testing coma always pushes a lens to its limits. If you are curious about the old Sigma 17-35mm f/2.8 HSM, then check out my video of the Northern Lights which was shot with that lens. The old Tamron is very sharp in the center for astro but has bad bad coma in the corners. I haven't tested the new Tamron 17-35 but I have feeling it is great!

During these times there is nothing to do but to try some stuff. A lazy Sunday turned out to be supper amazing I has a chance to borrow the Nikon 17-35 2.8 lens From Leon and put it to test with My Nikon Z6 on a Zhiyun Weebill S 1. Auto Focus worked well. But it comes with a price of the little clicking you get every time you pair a F lens with the FTZ. But in this kind of a shoot it didn't bother me. 2. Yes the Weebill S will balance this set up, but the eye-piece must be taken off. No issue with POV, or any other mode. 3. Would I get this Lens if I had money? Absolutely. 4. All shots shot at 1080 120fps apart from the drone shot, Mavic 2 Pro. Thanks to Gedion for the help in making of this Video. Like many of you watching this, I have a Nikon 17-35mm with a sticky/stuck zoom. It was moderately sticky when I bought it for a song $360 ($ as of the filming date on Amazon). I knew the risks - and within a week or so it stuck hard on 17mm. I've never been one to be scared to take something like this apart. With a full service at Nikon running around $300, I knew all I had to do was get it back together if I couldn't figure it out and send it in for a full rebuild. I was able to 80% disassemble it (no need to get into the focus motor mechanism) and reassemble successfully. The video is long, nothing I can do about that. And I did not have a camera operator to watch the focus so I apologize for the out of focus segments. It was the best I could do and hope this helps you if you decide to take this on yourself. Although I was able to free up the zoom I did not discover the cause of the remaining stickiness at 20mm. So at some point in the near future, I will likely send it to KEH or Camera Works in Durham for a full service. I bought this specifically to use 77mm filters on astro shots alongside the Rokinon 14mmf2.8. I hope to give that a go before I need to ship it off so that I can decide whether or not I will keep it. ** - UPDATE: I wound up sanding this to Peachtree Camera Repair in Marietta, GA for repair. Turns out the helicoid was bent. I can only suppose the previous owner dropped it? Does help me sleep at night knowing it was highly unlikely I would have found that issue. Side note - I was extremely satisfied with Peachtree and highly recommend them. Visit our official Website: Find an Authorized Tamron Dealer Today: Follow Us: Facebook: Instagram: Twitter: Transcript: I love to travel I love photography and I think combining those the camera is what allows me to communicate that best to tell the stories that's the place whatever is there they can't tell that story today we're with photographer Ericka Robinson in the great state of Oregon with more than three hundred and sixty miles of coastline she searches for inspirational locations they think it used to be like a sea cave and that the top of the cave literally caved in I thought it was gonna come more over the rocks but it comes from like underneath so I am out shooting at Thor's well on the coast of Oregon well we might get soaked I'm gonna shoot over this way because the water kind of comes up right in front and gives this really nice reflection I want to make the water look really smooth the only way that you can get the shutter speed slow enough is to use an introductory filter instead of just freezing time with a faster shutter speed I'll use a little bit slower of a shutter speed right now I'm shooting at about four seconds so an ND filter lets the light come in over a longer period of time to slow down all that water recently Nicon came out with their Z series mirror less cameras that I thought would be perfect to pair with the lightweight compact camera on 17 - 35 millimeter lens I think I'm going to move over there there was this little Jenny right next to well so I hopped a couple of rocks and I got out on this one main rock formation you have to catch it right on time because if you get there too early the waters not really flowing into the well but if you get there too late the well is then covered and you can't access it in order to get this shot I needed to be at the location between an hour and two hours before high tide I needed to really have an exit plan in case the tie did come up quicker than I thought it would oh yeah tides coming in I don't know if this is a smartest idea I've ever had and fortunately I had Ken watching my back being on that mission to be at the right place at the right time and even the research of it all the before and you get their part seeing it and experiencing for myself I want to be the one that was there to take that photo so the next time you're getting ready to travel do your research give plenty of time to explore and remember their journey is often more fulfilling than your destination

- Your 16mm resource! The film used was Kodak Vision2 50D 7201. The camera used was an Éclair ACL 2 with a Nikon 17-35mm f/ IF-ED lens with a .06 ND filter. IMHO Kodak 50D is absolutely beautiful film stock and I plan on shooting more of it in the future!

I've wanted to find a Canon L series zoom lens with an f/2.8 aperture for the last year, but have always been resigned to not being able to afford it since the Canon 16-35mm f/ III USM is $2,199 brand new. So why do I want an f/2.8 lens instead of my Canon 17-40mm f/4L USM lens? Because the two extra stops on the lens will give me much better depth of field as I vlog and make videos in my somewhat cramped studio. That's really all it is. And when I'm filming personal home movies and channel content, I'll be more able to handle low light situations. This is an excellent lens for vlogging because of its wide-angle, especially if you're filming with a camera like a Canon EOS R in 1080p - you've got a full frame sensor with a full frame lens!
