Hello hello! I never really got to use alcohol makers that much but I had a blast using these Arrtx markers! I think the 80 set is very affordable compared to other brands but also I do not think a brush tip is necessary to colour some nice illustrations! Today we will look at the new Arrtx Alp Skin tone and Grey Tone Marker Sets. Skin tone: I reviewed the original Arrtix Alp 80 set of assorted markers here: *There is a coloring demo here with lots of blending options in that video if you want to see these markers in action. The marker body, nibs, and packaging are the same style as the original 80 set with the grey and skin tone marker boxes being smaller to hold the smaller sets. The markers feature a hart fine bullet tip and a broad chisel tip. You can replace the chisel nib for an Art-n-Fly brush nib if you prefer. Art-n-Fly Brush nib: (A pack of 3 is $) These are the foam-rubber nibs like Copic but they have a longer spigot like the Arrtx Alp chisel end has so they are a better fit and cheaper than copic. The skin tone set has 2 colorless blenders. I recommend using one for blending out colored pencils if you like to use pencil over your marker art as I do and keep the other for just markers. The grey set has one blender. Pros of the grey set: *With 10 shade of warm and cool grays, this is a very comprehensive set. *Great color selection and all are unique shades. *The box keeps them in order so you can easily find what you need. *An essential selection to any marker collection. *The set uses customary color numbers so you could easily purchase refills from another brand if they ran dry or make your own by purchasing the darkest value gray and diluting with blending solution. *note, these are meant to be disposable but you could definitely refill them and replace nibs from other brands with no issue. Cons: None Pros of skintone set: *Lots of light tones and cool undertones which are lacking from many sets. *Box keeps markers organized and in order *Color chips are a pretty good match but I still recommend making a swatch *Color names match Copic colors so you can easily purchase refills from Copic to refill your markers. Be sure to keep the included paper swatch as the markers only have Arrtx Alp proprietary numbers on them. You need the color names to find refills *Best for white or Asian skin tones Cons of skintone set: *Lack of darks with warm undertones for coloring black and brown skin tones. *I recommend the Ohuhu brush marker skin tone set or the Arteza portrait set for these richer earth tones *2 of the markers are colorless blenders rather than colors, that may be a con to some as really you only get 34 colors. Bottom line: The grey tones are awesome, the numbering system makes sense and you get all you would ever need. No guesswork. I really like the skin tone set as I tend to color lighter skin tones and cute animals with pale faces but I will reach for other markers when coloring darker skin tones. Arrtx Markers versus Copic Markers. In this video, I will be doing a sort of marker review. The subject of this video is Arrtx Markers Vs Copic Markers. Since I received the Arrtx Markers from Arrtx, I've been practicing with them and have been really enjoying them. This made me wonder how they compare to Copic. At the end of the day this marker versus marker comparisons feel more like marker challenges, where I'm not so much the one who decides the winner, but you all do. The Copic Markers are brush markers while the Arrtx markers are bullet nib markers. They both have a chisel tip on the other side. Today we are looking at the Artify dual-ended alcohol brush markers. I will be reviewing the following sets (affiliate links used) 108 Brush Marker set of Assorted colors: 24 Skin tone set: Product details: The markers have a matte white rounded triangular barrel with a plastic numbered color chip on each cap. They have a brush tip on one end and a chisel tip on the other. No color name on the barrel and the caps do not stack on the other end. These use the same marker body as the Arrtx Alp, Old style Bianyo markers and Altenew Markers, and probably others. The color-coding system match Bianyo, Altenew, and Cali art markers. They range in price from .55 and .79 per marker depending on the size pack. They come in a nice, sturdy carrying and storage case with dividers to make it easy to separate the color in blending families. Pros: Low Price Nice case Blends and layers well Nice assortment of colors Includes swatch card Color chips are pretty accurate The barrel and caps feels high quality (thick, matte plastic) and is comfortable to hold. Cons: Inconsistent placement of chisel tip (you will want to pull some out and reseat them) Fiber brush nib (not foam rubber Japanise tip like Copic) There are some duplications between sets but also unique colors in each set meaning you would need to buy all sets to get all of the colors but you will have doubles this way of some colors. There were 3 duplications between the skin tone and 108 sets. Bottom line: These are great for the price. I would compare the quality of the nibs with Ohuhu. On their listing, they say their nibs are higher quality and not reversible like Ohuhu but when I pulled the nib out of the clear marker it looked to be identical. I had hoped since they made this claim, that the markers would have the rubber tip but that is not the case. You could however replace them with the Altenew nibs that are better quality if they run out: *You can refill with Altenew alcohol inks as well if they carry the color. Altenews range is smaller so not every color will be available but it's nice to know that's an option. Overall I think they are worth it for the price and the carry case is very nice. Hey Gang This week I did another Alcohol Marker review. As you know I love testing out different Marker brands. In this video I tested out the Arrtx Alp Alcohol Markers set B and give you a rundown of how they faired against their competitors. In this test I also got round to colouring my MF doom tribute sketch, which was a rough sketch that has been sat in my sketchbook for a the past couple weeks. I don't want to give too much away in this description but I am now a huge fan of the Arrtx marker range and they are also super cheap to buy on sure to watch my review at the end before jumping in and Buying these graphic MARKERS!!!!! I have not been sponsored by Arrtx, so this is a completely unbiased review. If you cant afford to buy Copic markers and looking for a cheap alternative or just prefer the chisel tip, then definitely check out this video. It occurred to me after recording this that these markers would be ideal for adult colors since the bullet tip it very small and the ink flows slower than other brands I've tried. Please read the review below for more info and resources I mentioned in the video! Arrtx had outdone themselves releasing a new line of alcohol-based markers this year under the name Alp. You can see the variety of markers they have here: some of the newer colors sets are not showing up on their store page so check here for the other sets: The Arrtx Alp markers have a slimmer rounded triangular barrel made of white matte plastic with color chips on each end. The arrtx name is printed on black on the marker and both end caps are labeled with a color number. You can see the color name and number on a hand color swatch that comes in the box. The box is designed to be permanent storage/display. The 90 color set has a plastic grid in the bottom of the box to keep the markers in the order you like while the other boxes have a cardboard grid that can bend if you are not careful. The 80 color set and skin tone set also had a metal clasp on the front but they have replaced that closer with a magnet of the other sets, an improvement I think as the clasp would get int eh way when setting the box up for display. The markers have a fine bullet tip and a standard chisel tip. The bullet tip is smaller and harder than the other markers I have used. I find the ink flow to be a bit slower in the Alp marker, that is not good or bad, just an observation. I also find many of the pastel-colored markers have color chops that are much darker so be sure to make a swatch. Ibeleivethat there are 200 unique colors in the line of Arrtx Alp Markers. You can get all of the colors if you buy the 80a, 90b and 36 skin tone sets. If you bought those sets the only duplicated you would get would be black and clear blenders. This would also include the 4 fluorescent colors, not in the color family sets. The prices range from about 60 cents a marker in the larger assorted backs to about 96 cents a marker in the color family packs so it is more affordable buying the big sets if you like them as all of the colors in the color family sets are in the 2 big sets. If you are unsure I would recommend starting with the skin tone set as none of those colors are duplicated in any other sets and then you can decide if you wanted to pick up the smaller sets as your budget allows or save up for the big sets. These markers are more expensive per marker than the original Arrtx markers or similar grade markers that run on the same color numbering system with the exception of Concept or ShinHan Touch. Here is a color chart of the Shinhan touch markers. I recommend printing one out to color by hand if you get these: *You may notice many maker lines use these inks, the color names and names match but you may find little discrepancies between brands. The alp markers appear lighter and I wonder if it might be the harder nibs restricting flow so the ink appears lighter. I had no issues blending these markers. You can refills for the markers here: and it is less expensive than copic. ***The skin tone set appears to run on Copic comparable colors if you go by the name of the color they are a perfect match for Copics of the same name.
