In this video we will look at how to receive ESU updates for Windows 7 to keep your computer patched until 2023. There is a lot of fearmongering and misconceptions about Windows 7 security, and who can receive the patches. There are 3 methods to continue patching Windows 7 for security vulnerabilities. Windows 7 STILL is OFFICIALLY supported by Microsoft and DOES receive security patches until Jan 2023 for people with an ESU license. 1) Legit Method: You can purchase an ESU license for $ via proxying through a CSP. Some CSPs will have a registration fee if this is your first time using said CSP. I recommend you proxy through me to waive said fee. You will receive a license key in a few days after purchase, install the license key, then your computer will continue downloading and installing updates via Windows Update as it did before official support was dropped. 2) Illegal By-Pass Method: There is a script on My Digital Life that allows ESU updates to be installed. You will have to check the Update History each Patch Tuesday to get said month's Monthly Rollup KB number, then download the KB manually via the Windows Update Catalog. You will also need to have the proper SSU (Servicing Stack Update) installed as well as the License Preparation Package. 3) Legit Non-Official Method: There is a security firm called 0patch that is offering security patches for $ a year for anyone, including individuals. They reverse-engineer Microsoft's patches or create their own method to patch said vulnerabilities and 0days. Windows 7 extended security updates to cost German government around $887,000 The German government is facing a bill of around $887,000 (800,000 euros) for failing to upgrade to Windows 10 ahead of the Windows 7 end of support date last week. German newspaper Handelsblatt reports that the German Federal Ministry is looking to secure at least 33,000 machines still running Windows 7, which involves paying Microsoft a fee per device for a year of extended security protection. Microsoft ended support for Windows 7 last week, but millions of PCs still run the operating system. While Microsoft won't be issuing public security updates and fixes for Windows 7, businesses who haven't migrated to Windows 10 in time can pay for Extended Security Updates (ESU). It's costly if you still have thousands of machines running Windows 7, just like the German government. Extended updates for Windows 7 Enterprise, used in most big businesses, is approximately $25 per machine, and the cost doubles to $50 per device in 2021 and again to $100 in 2022. It's even worse for Windows 7 Pro users, used in smaller firms, which starts at $50 per machine and jumps to $100 in 2021 and $200 in 2022. These costs will vary depending on the volume of PCs in use at a business, and some larger firms can negotiate discounts for thousands of machines. The German government is reportedly in the middle of an upgrade to Windows 10, but it hasn't managed to get every PC upgraded in time. Handelsblatt reports that 20,000 of 85,000 machines in Berlin government offices are still running Windows 7, highlighting the issue the German government has. Microsoft has also started using full-screen notifications for Windows 7 users, alerting them that the OS is no longer supported. The software

Microsoft stops providing free security updates for the system today (Tuesday January 14), meaning computers using it will be more vulnerable to malware and hacking. STORY-LINE: Users of Microsoft Windows 7 who want to protect their computers need to upgrade to Windows 10. As of today the company is no longer providing free security updates for the system. Users may also need to buy new computers because older machines might not be compatible with Windows 10. Tech companies typically phase out older systems after a number of years and focus efforts on updating current versions of software. Windows 7 came out in 2009. Windows 8, which came out in 2012, will have free support end in 2023. Windows 10 starts at $139 USD for a basic, "Home" version. Microsoft charges $200 USD for a "Pro" version meant for businesses and individuals who need its advance features. Windows 10 comes with regular free updates for security and additional features. Although Windows 10 isn't likely to be phased out anytime soon, older versions will require those updates to keep working. Microsoft is also ending support Tuesday for Windows Server 2008 or 2008 R2 operating systems. Those who run Windows 7 Professional or Windows 7 Enterprise can buy extended protection for up to three years. But it might be worthwhile to just to buy new PCs or get Windows 10. Microsoft will also be ending support on Oct. 13 for Office 2010 a package that includes word processing and spreadsheet software. Owners need to explore newer versions of Office, including a subscription offering called Office 365. While the company had ended mainstream support back in 2015, the extended support where Microsoft continues to provide free security updates will be ending next year. Microsoft has recommended that consumers should upgrade compatible Windows 7 PCs with a full license and move to Windows 10. While you can continue to use Windows 7, but once Microsoft ends support next year your PC will potentially be more vulnerable to security risks as you will stop receiving security and feature two weeks back, we reported that Windows 10 had finally overtaken Windows 7 recording percent of web traffic in December 2018. Windows 7 had fallen to 36.9 percent, while Windows 8.1 was at percent and Windows XP, which was once the most popular version of the OS, stood at percent of the market share. Enterprise users however, still have some time as Microsoft had announced last year that the company will offer paid Windows 7 Extended Security Updates (ESU) till January 2023.
