Installing a second hard drive in your Laptop is pretty easy if you don't really use your optical drive. Swap it out with a Hard drive caddy. But save that cd or dvd drive. You can still use it. I show how at the end of this vid. Align the screw holes of your 3.5" hdd to the tabs located on the right side of the hard drive tray. It has to be tilted at an angle when you do it. On the left side of the hard drive tray, make sure the blue tabs are up. Up means, unlocked. Align the metal tabs on the left side of the hard drive tray. I will show you how to adjust some settings in BIOS to resolve this issue and how to run the Dell self diagnostic test. If changing the setting in BIOS does not help and if no errors are found by the test, then the issue is most likely in the operating system. A: F2 - BIOS, F12 - Diagnostic Options Q: What if I cannot seem to switch between Legacy and UEFI or switching does not work? A: If you cannot locate the options to switch between or if switching does not work, then skip that step and continue with the rest of the video :) What was the result of the Diagnostic Scan? Q: It has an error saying 'legacy option cannot be enabled with PTT enable' A: Disable PTT Security by going to the Security Tab, and selecting PTT Security. Uncheck the box. If it still says that its not installed, then its most likely bad and needs to be replaced. You can see how to do that here; You would also then need to install an operating system onto the new one as shown here; You can create your own install media for free as seen here; Q: My hard drive didn't pass the test. What do I do now? A: If an error is found in your hard drive, replace it as seen here; You will then need to install Windows onto the new drive as seen here; You can create your own Install Media for free as seen here; Q: This didn't work :( A: This video contains troubleshooting steps. Not magic fixes. Based on the result of these tests, we are able to either identify the cause of the problem or rule some causes out and continue to test for other possible causes. What was the result of the diagnostic scan? Did it not complete? Q: The only error on the test was that my battery was dying. Is that the reason? A: If the diagnostic showed an error with the battery, then the battery should be replaced asap. However, thats most likely not the issue causing the 'boot loop' situation. If changing the setting in BIOS does not help and if no other errors are found by the test, then the issue is most likely in the operating system.
