I desperately needed some light in the new addition, so I did some research and chose 6 new Hyperlite High Bay lights, in 5000k color. These are the Hero 100-watt models. Easy install, with plenty of light. This company did not support me in any way, as I purchased these with my own money. I am also replacing several 4' T12 fluorescent lights in my 2-bay shop, any suggestions on new LED 4' lights would be greatly appreciated!

We assembled and installed 8 high bay LED lights for a total of 112,000 lumen of light in our 40' x 48' barn with 16' ceiling height. Utilizing a 26' scissor lift rented from True Value of Northern Kent County to install the 8 electrical outlets and hangers for the lights. Get your own here: As I prepare my new garage for my new shop I thought I would tackle the absolutely, hilariously bad, lighting situation. As you know, in any workshop the quantity and quality of lighting is SO important to safety and efficiency. There is no way that the original single bulb fixtures were going to work in there so I set out to find a better way. Oh and it had to be quick and easy since my time has been a precious commodity lately. If you have been following along on my journey you'll know that in my last shop I installed some Barrina LED fixtures. There is actually a video of that transformation here: . Overall I was extremely happy with how that turned out, and would do that again in my shop, however since this garage will serve as a temporary shop AND I didn't have the time to tackle that needed to find a faster way. That is where I came across the wide world of wacky LED fixtures on Amazon. There seems to be an explosion of Chinese-produced tri-fold fixtures that are now widely available. I began researching the different types, models, brands, and configurations. When installing LED shop lights there are a couple of considerations: Lumens (measure of light output) Color Temperature (measured in K, dictates how "cool" or "warm" the light is) Color Rendering Index (CRI for short, dictates how realistic or color-accurate objects look when illuminated) For lumens I wanted to shoot for as many as I could. Typically LED fixtures put out anywhere from 100-110 lumens per Watt, where as conventional incandescent bulbs put out about 10 lumens per Watt. For color temperature I know that I like 5000K for a shop. This would be a bit too "cold" for an indoor house light, but I think works really well when building things. Finally, you should always shoot for a CRI above 80. Anything below 80 will cause your projects (and belongings) to appear color-distorted and can throw you off when you're doing things like painting. With all of the specs laid out I could use that to help weed through the options on Amazon. Since all of these lights utilized an existing lampholder fixture (E26/27), I knew they would be my fastest option, assuming they worked. (Runner-Up) ACI 80W Fixtures (2-pack) 8000 lumens per fixture - 3.) (Stupid-Bright Alternative) ZJOJO 100W Fixtures (2-pack) 12,500 lumens per fixture - I purchased a total of 8 fixtures and installed 7 of them in my 3-car what a difference! Per the product page, each fixture puts out 9,000 lumens so my garage (in theory) is now lit by 63,000 lumens total! They were a breeze to install and assuming I just re-used my existing 4 ceiling have taken a whopping 5 minutes to complete. I'm replacing these old flickering fluorescent lights in my garage with some brand new high bay LED lights from Hyperlite. Spoiler alert, it turns out really bright. I purchased these lights because they are meant for high ceilings. I have 14 foot ceilings in my detached garage and need it to be much brighter than it was. I like these lights because they're plug an play. Very easy to install. All you need is a hook and outlet on a switch. I opted for the 200 Watt 28000 Lumens and I put 4 of them in my garage. A common question we hear from customers is should I use a linear or UFO style high bay light fixture. In this video, Neil Peterson of LED Lighting Supply takes you through some of the differences to help you to choose the right style high bay fixture for your business. After watching this video, you can browse our full line of High Bays LED Lights: Linear Style: UFO Style: Transcript: Hi, my name is Neil Peterson with LED Lighting Supply. Today, I'm just going to talk about the difference between a UFO High Bay and a Linear High Bay. In general, they both provide basically the same amount of coverage. Your main differences are really form factor and additional features available with it. A UFO traditionally hangs can also come with a pendant mount. UFO also comes with varying optics. So if your fixtures mounted very high, like a 30 or 40 feet. The standard optics is 120 degrees. We could take you down to 90 or 60 degree. What this does is gets more light shining down on the ground then flooding out all over the place. At those high heights, a linear fixture again mounts flat or usually mount with a wire or chain. It also can have a pendant or surface mount bracket. They do come to the lens. The main differences are really ideal up to your 30 feet. They do come in as with UFOs. The wattages just can go up pretty high. So you can replace 1000 watt, even a 1500 watt metal halide fixture. So it really then gets back to just preference. Both these can come with an EMB option. They can come with motion sensors. They can come in high voltage. So it really gets back to a preference for what you like. We found that many customers that have T5 current fixtures, like the linear fixture, in many cases, they can just reuse the wiring. The only other thing that you will see with a linear is most of your old T5 fixtures are 4 feet long. Most of your linear fixtures are actually 2 feet long in the lower wattages. Usually anything up to about 220 watt. Then above that you're getting three or four feet. So again, the choice really gets back to your preference. In general, they do both produce the same amount of light. So have a great day and we'll talk to you later.
