Как только я узнал что есть защищенные ноутбуки (компьютеры с высокими классами защиты от внешней среды, от падений, ударов) они навсегда засели в моей памяти как некая мечта. Цена около 10к долларов была нереальная. Шло время, потребности у промышленников и военных менялись, закупались более производительные машины, а эти стареющие устройства оказавшись крайне надежными, переместились на вторичный рынок. Цена с 10к опустилась до вполне себе разумных 500 долларов, и мечта казалась осуществима, не осталась такой заоблачной как прежде. Не давно был мой день рождения, моя сестра предложила на определённую сумму подарок, 300 - 400 долларов, на эту сумму найден был данный ноутбук. Спасибо сестре, для меня это шикарный подарок. Рассказ об этом ноутбуке вряд ли уместится в часовой ролик, сделаю серию роликов о том как он становится полноценным инструментом в моём использовании. With the Semi-Rugged Toughbook CF-54, Panasonic brought budget, durability and performance together into a sleek package; taking the feedback they received from the hugely successful CF-54, Panasonic has improved upon the design and released the FZ-55 Toughbook. Virtually identical in form factor visually, the FZ-55 improves upon the CF-54 in key aspects. More durable, the FZ-55 Toughbook is now IP53 protected against dust and liquid spills compared to the CF-54 IP51 rating. Doubling the amount of audio microphones, adding an infrared webcam and increasing the decibel output of the speakers, the FZ-55 improves the users audio/visual experience. Featuring a standard default 512GB SSD, 8GB and 8th generation Intel processors, the Toughbook 55 also increases performance from its predecessor on all fronts. One of the biggest complaints with the CF-54 is the user having to wait (often 30-90 days) for the required configuration to be manufactured, Panasonic has rectified this by adding modular user upgrades as an option for the FZ-55. Everything from extra batteries, different ports, insertable smartcard readers to fingerprint readers and dedicated graphics can be added by the user, post factory to an FZ-55 they already own or is readily available. The upgrades for the Toughbook 55 come in the form of xPaks, cafeteria style choices that can occupy one of 3 bays on the FZ-55. Upgrades can be as simple as plug and play for new xPak modules, with some requiring a few security screws. This user upgradeable experience is unprecedented in the rugged industry and a huge leap forward for the Toughbook brand. Another user requested feature for the new Toughbook that Panasonic listened to is backwards compatibility. The FZ-55 is compatible with all CF-54 desktop and vehicle docks. The Toughbook 55 took everything you know and love about the CF-54 and improved upon it, paving the way for more innovation and ease of use in the rugged world. The CF-54 Panasonic Toughbook was a major success in the Semi-Rugged Toughbook line and can be found everywhere from mounted in police vehicles to in a business person's carry on. Panasonic took everything that was a success with the CF-54 and used customer feedback to improve upon the design with the successor FZ-55. Replacing the CF-54 the FZ-55 shares many similar traits as its predecessor, while boasting some key upgrades. In this video, The Rugged Store walks you through some of those changes! Moving to 8th generation Intel processors, the FZ-55 by defaults doubles the CF-54 storage and RAM size (512GB SSD and 8GB RAM respectively.) Panasonic rearranged the keyboard layout so the the FZ-55 has more often used keys enlarged and easier to strike. With dual integrated speakers, the FZ-55 has significantly louder audio out and boasts tetra array (4) audio in microphones and an infrared low-light webcam; this will enable the FZ-55 Toughbook user to have a much better audio visual interaction with their computer. Having the same 3 foot drop rating as the CF-54 Toughbook, the FZ-55 increases to IP53 (Ingress Protection) over the previous IP51; meaning that the FZ-55 will have more durability when it comes to liquid ingress. The Panasonic Toughbook FZ-55 improved in many ways on its predecessor the CF-54. Both are semi rugged but key features make the FZ-55 able to be more easily customized. One of the design decisions made by Panasonic was to replace the standard 2.5" sata drive (HDD or SSD) that went into the CF-54 with an m.2 SSD. Switching to the M.2 form factor allowed Panasonic to free up some much needed real estate in the FZ-55 Toughbook and allow for more agile customization by the user. Standardizing the FZ-55 line at a minimum of 512GB SSD of storage eliminated a lot of post factory upgrade cost to the end user. An important security and convenience feature of the CF-54 drive design was the quick removable caddy the drive was seated in. Panasonic retained this function by placing the M.2 in a quick removable housing, allowing the user to quickly remove the SSD and stored data and physically disconnect it from the unit. The FZ-55 Panasonic toughbook comes with two display versions: the HD 1366 x 768 pixel version and the FHD 1920 x 1080 pixel version. The FHD also is a 10-pt capacitive touch display that has 1000 nit brightness and is sunlight viewable. When demonstrating the FZ-55 and discussing it with customers, we have come across a little known setting in Windows 10 that is affecting the maximum screen brightness of the touch version of the FZ-55. In this video, we walk you through the ways to turn off/on the adaptive screen brightness in Windows 10; when turned off, the maximum screen brightness output of the Toughbook 55 actually increases a small amount. Our cameras might not have demonstrated how much of a brightness change is accomplished with this setting but every nit counts when trying to view the FZ-55 screen in bright light.
