Overview
With transcendent driving traits and terrific twin-turbo flat-six engines, the 2022 Porsche 911 is a nearly flawless sports car, and it's an obvious Editors' Choice winner. Apart from being too expensive for most enthusiasts, Porsche's iconic two-plus-two-seater is as immersive as it is versatile. Along with the aforementioned flat-six which produces a distinctive snarl and makes between 379 and 473 horsepower–we review the higher-powered GT3 and Turbo variants separately–the lineup offers a quick-shifting dual-clutch automatic or a manual transmission and rear- or all-wheel drive. The latter ensures its incredible performance can be enjoyed in all four seasons. The 911 comes in coupe, cabriolet (read: convertible), or quasi-convertible Targa body styles. The beauty of the 911 is that its athleticism doesn't diminish its livability. Its ride is surprisingly civil considering its cornering limits and race car-like steering feel. Its interior is roomy up front and can be lavishly appointed. And its driver is treated to a satisfyingly low seating position but also excellent outward visibility.
What's New for 2022?
For 2022, the GTS trim level joins the 911 family. Along with a 473-hp version of the lineup's ubiquitous twin-turbo flat-six, it's available with an eight-speed automatic or seven-speed manual transmission and rear- or all-wheel drive. The GTS is offered in all three body styles, too. Its most notable features include a specially tuned suspension as well as 20-inch front and 21-inch rear wheels with black center locks as seen on the 911 Turbo. Likewise, the GTS inherits larger iron brake rotors from the top-tier Turbo. There's also a lightweight package that removes the rear seats and adds carbon-fiber front buckets, lighter glass, and a rear-wheel-steering system. The 2022 911 receives Porsche's latest infotainment software, including new features such as Android Auto. To celebrate 50 years of Porsche Design, a limited number (750) of special-edition 911 Targas will be offered.

Based on our experience with myriad 911 models, we can confidently recommend the Carrera S. It boasts 64 horses more than the standard Carrera, and we'd be happy with either the engaging manual transmission or the snappier dual-clutch automatic. Those who want to enjoy their 911 year-round but have to deal with slippery winter conditions can add all-wheel drive for $7300 if you feel four winter tires aren't enough. We're content with the coupe body style, especially since the cabriolet costs almost $13,000 more. We'd also opt for the Sport Chrono package that adds launch control, additional drive modes, and more. The Sport Seats Plus provide more supportive front buckets, and the Sport package adds a lowered suspension and a louder exhaust system. Our selection of upgrades would conclude with ventilated front-seat cushions, passive entry, a heated multifunction GT steering wheel, and Porsche's Dynamic Light System Plus that features automatic high-beams and headlights that swivel in the direction the front tires are pointed. We'd also recommend taking advantage of the Porsche Experience Center. For $395 (plus a $50 damage waiver fee), you will be receive coaching and track time in your new Porsche at either the Atlanta or Los Angeles location. If you don't live in those areas, you can travel and book time in one of Porsche's vehicles instead. Prices for those experiences range from as low as $400 to as high as $900 depending on location and model.

In this video i talk about should you buy the Porsche 911 Carrera 4S Cabriolet or base. The Carrera 4S has always been the most expensive 911 without a GT in its name. But in the 992 generation the lines between the higher level trims like the 4S and the base are starting to blur. For example, all 992 generation 911's have a widebody. Also, most of the looks from the upper trim levels can be had in the base version as well.
Like all things, you have to look a little deeper to see and feel the differences. The Carrera 4S gives you more mechanical upgrades vs the regular base version and also allows for the ability to option in certain upgrades such as rear wheel steering. These are just a few differences between the 4S and the base level trim. For all the differences, check out the video!

The 2023 Porsche 911 Sport Classic is a distinctive special edition that stands out in the extensive 911 model lineup. It features an exclusive powertrain setup, exterior design, and interior materials that make it a unique offering.
Starting with the 911 Turbo S as the mechanical base, the Sport Classic undergoes significant changes to introduce elements that have been absent from 911 Turbo models for a long time, such as a manual transmission and rear-wheel drive. This is a remarkable powertrain setup that sets the Sport Classic apart from the standard Turbo S. Porsche's current 911 Turbo only comes with its PDK gearbox and all-wheel drive. In contrast, the Sport Classic features a 7-speed manual transmission, which is derived from non-Turbo 911 models. To ensure the gearbox can sustain the Turbo S’ power, Porsche has de-tuned the engine, with the twin-turbo flat-six engine generating 543 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque. While this is significantly lower than the Turbo S' output of 640 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque, it is still the most powerful Porsche with a manual transmission in the lineup. In comparison, the manual GT3 is the closest with 502 horsepower.
Despite the dip in power, the Sport Classic has all the performance upgrades of the Turbo S. It features Porsche Active Suspension Management, Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control, ceramic brakes, rear axle steering, the Sport Chrono Package, and Sport Exhaust as standard equipment. Porsche slightly decreased the front spring rates because the car doesn't have all-wheel drive, and it's tuned with the road, not the racetrack, in mind to make it a more comfortable touring car.
The exterior design of the Sport Classic is even more impressive than the powertrain setup. Porsche's design team made many big and expensive requests when designing this car, and the answer to every single one of them was yes. The team started with the 911 Turbo S to get the dramatically wide body that the Turbo provides. They then made several modifications to the body, with the most dramatic change being the entirely new rear fender design. Instead of the intake cutouts found on the Turbo and Turbo S, the Sport Classic has smooth and flowing hips, giving the clean look that the designers were aiming for. This required significant engineering work to ensure the Turbo S engine received the required airflow, and Porsche had to create new tooling to stamp the panel, as the intake-less Turbo-style wide body was something Porsche hadn't done before. Ducts integrated into the new ducktail spoiler on the rear end solved the intake issue, and the ducktail spoiler itself is meant to be a modern take on the ducktail spoiler from the 1972-73 911 Carrera RS 2.7.
The hood is made of carbon and is different from the hood used on the Turbo S, with the Sport Classic’s hood dipping in the center. This special model also features a unique double-bubble carbon roof that is not found on the Turbo S. Modern interpretation of Fuchs design wheels with center-locking hubs are fitted at all four corners.
As we delve into the 911 Sport Classic, it's difficult not to be mesmerized by the unique retro touches. A quick glance inside and you'll notice the Pepita cloth upholstery, specifically chosen to bring us back to the 60s and 70s. However, if you're a boring individual who prefers an all-black leather interior, Porsche will comply with your mundane request. That being said, the semi-aniline leather paired with Pepita is a rare offering from Porsche, with the last time they used this type of leather being in the illustrious 918 Spyder. It's worth noting that the interior trim is done in the exquisitely dark Paldao wood, adding to the cabin's already luxurious feel.
Additionally, green accents within the cluster and a white tach needle further enforce the retro aesthetic. The interior is essentially fully loaded with every possible leather and Race-Tex option available. This attention to detail is not only impressive but would undoubtedly come at a significant cost if one were to attempt to replicate this on the Porsche configurator.

Porsche 911 Dakar v Taycan v 911 GTS v Macan v Cayenne: OFF-ROAD DRAG RACE
Porsche drag races don’t get any better than this!
We’ve got our hands on the all-new, limited edition Porsche 911 Dakar, and it’s joined by a whole host of different Porsches for a drag race on mud!
We’ve got our hands on a 911 Dakar, 911 Carrera 4 GTS, Macan GTS, Taycan Cross Truism, Cayenne e-hybrid and a first-get Cayenne S, and we’re about to find out whether the 911 Dakar can truly leave them in the dust!
So let’s see how they all compare. Starting with the Carrera 4 GTS, it comes packing a 3-litre twin-turbo flat-six that can deliver 480hp and 570Nm of torque through all four wheels. In terms of weight, it comes in at around 1,600kg. The 911 Dakar is based on this car, so it comes with the same engine, power output and weight. However, it’s got a number of updates over the standard car! It’s been lifted, and comes with an updated chassis and bespoke off-road tyres, just to name a few of the changes.
The second race features the Macan GTS and the Taycan Cross Turismo. The Macan is packing a twin-turbo V6 that can put down 440hp and 550Nm of torque. It delivers this power to all four wheels and weighs in at 1,960kg. Alongside it, we have the all-electric Taycan Cross Turismo, which has two electric motors that produce 571hp and 650Nm, and it weighs in at 2,245kg.
Finally, we have the two Cayennes. The first-gen is a Cayenne S that’s had a whole load of mods done to it to make it capable of tackling an off-road course. In terms of power, it’s packing a V8 that can put down 340hp and 420Nm. When it comes to weight, it tips the scales at 2,150kg. And last but by no means least, we have the Cayenne e-Hybrid. It’s powered by a 3-litre turbocharged V6 and an electric motor, which combine to produce 462hp and 700Nm. Naturally, it’s pretty heavy, coming in at around 2,300kg.

Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet
Each generation of Porsche 911 Turbo has held up the claim of being a global benchmark for high-performance sports cars. It has maintained this reputation since 1975 by continually honing a combination of exhilarating performance and everyday usability, delivering relentless power coupled with conscientious efficiency. The latest generation of the two-plus-two seater is more than twice as powerful as the original 911 Turbo, which was powered by a three-litre, single-turbocharged, 260 PS flat-six engine. As the Porsche 911 Turbo has become faster and more comfortable over the past 45 years, it has always stayed true to its original defining character - a compelling mix of pioneering spirit and tradition.
The new generation Porsche 911 Turbo Coupé and Cabriolet sit beneath the flagship 911 Turbo S. With a 580 PS version of the characteristic flat-six, twin-turbo engines, the Porsche 911 Turbo offers 40 PS more than the prior generation model and consequently is able to dip under the three second 0-62 mph yardstick; specifically in 2.8 seconds (0.2 seconds quicker than before). This is aided by 750 Nm of low rev pull (+ 40 Nm), now without an overboost time limit, that makes quick sprints more spontaneous and effortless. In this way, the metrics for power output, acceleration and torque of the new 911 Turbo match those of the previous model 911 Turbo S.
The 3,745 cc six-cylinder flat 'boxer' engine in the Porsche 911 Turbo now features symmetrical VTG turbochargers with electrically controlled wastegate bypass valves. The VTG system adjusts the intake boost according to engine speed and load. Being mounted in a symmetrical layout, means the turbocharger compressor and turbine wheels now rotate in opposite directions. In conjunction with its redesigned charge air cooling system and the use of highly accurate piezo fuel injectors, these developments help improve throttle responsiveness, torque characteristics and let the engine rev more freely.
