So without further ado, let's jump straight into the video. The My Cloud Home is available in single and dual-drive options, and both look the same apart from their size. A device that can be used to store all your necessary data and files, the setup for the device is quick and straightforward from your phone. This device features MyCloud Home mobile app and desktop app myCloud, which will help save files via the app through the phone, so there won't be an issue if you are running out of space on your mobile. The app has a File search to find content quickly; this also has a personal private space for each user so you can invite family and friends to create individual accounts. Each invited person can set up their own private space that only they can access on the device. They can manage, access, and share their content as they want. Also, the My Cloud Home device has a 4TB capacity. It plugs into your network to wirelessly back up computers at home to one central place. It works seamlessly with Windows Backup and Time Machine software. The device has smooth video playback; you can stream your personal videos virtually anywhere, on almost any device, using the My Cloud Home mobile and desktop app or MyCloud's site. This comes with an easy share and quick access where you can store all your favourite moments and memories and get them within a few clicks Designed for small to medium businesses, the TerraMaster F5-422 ($) is five-bay network-attached storage (NAS) device that can accommodate up to 80TB of storage and offers numerous RAID options to help protect your data. It has a multi-gig LAN port for high-speed connectivity. It supports 4K video transcoding, and it's easy to install. The NAS delivered decent test file transfer speeds and came with a modest catalogue of apps. Still, our Editors' Choice, the Asustor AS5304T, is a bit faster and offers a much more extensive catalogue of apps. The F5-422 uses the same type of silver aluminium alloy enclosure as the TerraMaster F2-210. Still, at 8.9 by 8.8 by 5.3 inches, this model is significantly wider to accommodate five drive bays. The F5-422 supports the Btrfs and EXT4 file systems as well as multiple RAID levels, including RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 5, RAID 6, and RAID 10, as well as JBOD and Single. The front of the NAS contains a panel with a power button and seven tiny LED indicators for LAN, drive activity, and power. ⭐⭐I'm torn on this review. It is a good looking NAS device, supposed to be 3 TB. It was easy to power up and find on the network, also easy to set up an online account to view from anywhere in the world. Two big downsides though: The software that comes with it to create a backup doesn't work with this device!!! the only thing you can do is back up to another portable WD device that it does work with, like the Passport devices. You can sync folders, but this is not the same as scheduled back up that can help in the event of an OS reinstall for example. I have had to rely on the File History Backup option that comes with Windows. Secondly, when you boot this up out of the box, there isn't 3TB free, there is only , which is a big chunk of memory to be eaten up before you even start to use it. And lastly, I can't see what percentage other people are using of the memory, just the total available. So, in review. It does what I want it to do, but the backup side of it is done with Windows software and not that supplied by WD. I can access the Windows back up files from anywhere so that's good. It was easy to get online and find it on the network when originally powered up. It looks good. 3 stars out of 5 because of the backup issues and cost though. And it appears to achieve what it sets out to do. It's very easy to get up and running: plug it in, set up an account, install some software on your PC or mobile app, and you're done. But all of this ease comes at a loss of control that advanced users will want. And there's not backup functionality yet. Unlike the prior My Cloud devices this will work the same on a local network as it does remotely. So Mac OS and Windows will see this as a regular drive even if you're halfway across the world. It will of course run slower remotely due to available Internet connection speeds but it is a lot easier to use as a cloud device vs. the previous consumer models. But a lot of sacrificed for this simplicity for advanced users. The drive requires an account with WD and will not work standalone. It will not be available as a network drive to computers without the software running. Multiple users are supported but they exist in their own silos and cannot share files with each other. The owner of the drive cannot see what files other users have stored on it. The biggest omission I see so far is that it has no way of backing itself up automatically. This was a key feature of the original My Clouds and allowed copying data to an external drive for backup. Not here. So while external drives can copy data TO the My Cloud Home, data itself can't be copied out unless it is done manually over the network. I'm sure we'll be doing more with this in the coming months as new features are added. i do not recommend this drive. it was purchased by my brother-in-law from best buy during xmas time for like $300 but he returned it after i gave him the toshiba canvio 3tb usb 3.0 drive. i told him to invest $15 and get a pogoplug (see my old video) instead, which can turn up to 4 drives into personal cloud drives. i was trying to load his drive up with a bunch of things but you can only use that drive via ethernet and wireless so the transfer speeds were painfully slow. im happy he got his money back.
