The Sony 70-200mm f/2.8 G Master lens represents not only one of Sony's first ever released GM lenses, but also one of their most popular choices for wedding/event and other shooters look for the convenience and versatility that telephoto zooms provide.  That said, this lens also bears the unique distinction of being Sony's first G Master lens to be replaced, as this lens is now succeeded by the 70-200mm GM II which improves upon the original GM in a number of ways.  All of this begs the question: is the original SEL70200GM still worth it today, or whenever you're watching this? In this lens review, I'll talk about the many specifications and features the original 70-200mm GM has, and how this performs on a general level.  I'll follow this up by discussing my favorite aspects about the original 70-200mm GM ("The Good"), and those aspects of the lens where it lags compared to its new successor and other options ("The Not So Good").  Last, I'll address the question of whether this telephoto lens is still worth purchasing today, and some other options that exist that also compete with this lens and its performance in the same space and price category. All in all, the SEL70200GM still has a unique place in the Sony system, and depending on your use case and budget, may still be an excellent option to consider. Давно хотел поснимать объективом премиум класса SONY 70-200 F2,8 GM. Много о нем слышал и наконец он оказался у меня в руках. Правда всего лишь на два дня, но все же я успел насладится работой с ним. Не знаю, может я не объективен, но я у него не нашел ни одного недостатка (ну может кроме высокой цены). Думаю со мной все согласятся, что sony 70-200 f2,8 GM является вершиной человеческой мысли в области создания оптики для фото. Вы даже представить себе не можете, как мне было жалко его возвращать из аренды. Мы с ним так хорошо поладили за это время. Ладно, буду надеется, что в скором времени я смогу себе позволить его купить. Photos edited with my Hazel Lightroom Preset Pack which is coming soon, you can check out my other presets here: Today we'll be taking a look at the new Sony GM 70-200mm f2.8 mark ii for photography on the A7R4 and video on the A7sIII. I have some eye AF tests to share with you in both photo and video, a studio portrait photoshoot to check out the image quality and sharpness of this lens at all the focal lengths. I also take some outdoor photos to see what the 70-200mm f2.8 mkii looks like in natural light, see the bokeh, lens flare and chromatic aberrations. AND I also try it out with the compatible 2x teleconverter for some wildlife photography. Let me know what you think of this review! Unboxing the fantastic Sony 70-200mm F2.8 G SSM II lens. # PURCHASE: PURCHASE FROM AMAZON: The Sony 70-200mm f/2.8 G SSM II Lens is a versatile zoom lens covering portrait-length to telephoto perspectives and featuring a constant f/2.8 maximum aperture for enhanced low-light shooting and focus control throughout the zoom range. A Super Sonic Wave Motor (SSM) focusing mechanism provides fast, smooth, and quiet focusing performance with enhanced tracking capabilities that are well-suited to photographing quickly moving subjects. Also helping to increase focusing speeds is the integration of a Focus Range Limiter, which enables you to set pre-defined limits for the lens to focus within for faster response times. Additionally, when paired with Sony A-mount cameras, in-body image stabilization renders this lens stabilized and supports the use of longer shutter speeds with a reduction in appearance of camera shake. The optical design employs two extra-low dispersion elements to minimize chromatic aberrations throughout the zoom range as well as heighten image clarity and overall sharpness. A Nano AR (anti-reflective) coating has also been applied to lens elements in order to reduce lens flare and ghosting for more contrast-rich imagery and high color neutrality. Portrait-length to telephoto zoom lens featuring a constant f/2.8 maximum aperture for consistent low-light performance and focusing control throughout the zoom range. Super Sonic wave Motor (SSM) provides fast, smooth, and quiet focusing performance with enhanced subject-tracking capabilities. Focus Range Limiter enables you to preset a defined focusing range for faster, more controlled focusing. Two extra-low dispersion elements help to minimize chromatic aberrations and improve image quality and sharpness throughout the zoom range. Nano AR coating reduces lens flare and ghosting for higher clarity, contrast, and color fidelity. Nine-blade circular diaphragm produces a smooth out-of-focus quality that is well-suited to selective focus imagery. Compatible with optional and teleconverters for extending the reach of the lens even further.
