For demonstration purposes, I'm going to be using our DPR label unwinder so that you guys can really get an idea of what's going into the printer and whats coming out the other side. Alright guys, here we have our labels created in bartender. I have each one made up and ready to go, and here we have our form. So all you're going to do in bartender is hit control-print. You're going to select your printer and here you can change your properties. I have everything set up already so we're just going to hit print. Next, our form is going to load. Once our form is up were going to select the material and as you can see there is a live preview of the label right here and we can select which ones we want to be included in this print job- I want all of them to be included. I'm going to set this to 10 copies (which it already is) and just hit print. The job gets sent to the printer (you can ignore this message) and there we have it... In this video, Pete reviews the quick process of replacing the media with both media of the same width, and media of a different width. [Transcript] What's up guys, it's Pete. I'm in the Infinity Label Group print lab again, and this time I'm going to be showing you how to replace the media on your Epson C3500 color label printer. Let's take a look. Once you run out of media on the Epson C3500, your display will read "Paper out" and the Paper light will be a solid orange. If this happens in the middle of a print job, your status light may also be blinking orange. All you have to do to replace this -and in this situation we have our catch tray on so I'm going to take this off to make it a little easier.- is open this latch to pull down the front cover of the printer, and remove your empty roll. If you're replacing it with the same width media, it should slide right into those guides. Pull it up through the front, close the printer, make sure it's centered as best you can, and the printer will begin working. Now that I've shown you how to replace a four inch wide label with another four inch wide label, I want to show you something a little different. Some people have different sized labels, so what I''m going to do now is replace a four inch wide label with a three inch wide label. The process is essentially the same, but this time we're going to use some of those guides that you saw inside the printer to make that label fit nice and snug, and make sure our prints are accurate every time. Our process is essentially the same as last time, we're going to open this latch and take out the old roll. Now, I'm not sure how well you could see it in the other video, but there's a blue latch in here, and that controls this spring-loaded mechanism that holds the roll in place. So this time what we're going to do is take our three inch wide roll of labels, we're going to open that spring, pull the labels out a little bit like we did before, and let it get nice and snug between those two guides. Once the roll is firmly in there, we're going to push down on this latch to lock it in place. This way, the roll doesn't move back and forth, and your labels are consistent and accurate. Again, we're going to pull it up through the top, and feed it through the middle. As with before, the printer will feed out a little bit of paper... Now that the printer has done its head maintenance, there's one last thing we want to do. Before you cut this label off, we're going to lift up (on the label) and press down on this tab. That this allows us to do is move these guides on the outside so we'll be able to get them snugly around the label. Lift that (the label) up again and pull the tab forward. Again, this just makes sure that the label is being fed out straight and that your prints keep coming out accurate. Now we can cut this off, and we're all done. If you've been following our channel for some time, you've probably seen this printer in action, but today we're going to explore some of the capabilities of this printer that we haven't quite touched on yet. The C3500 has lots of features that make it ideal for small to medium label volume applications. Its small form factor, rugged construction, print speed, and print quality, give it the flexibility that it needs to be implemented in countless IPSi solutions. If there really is a downside to this printer, it's the relatively low label capacity caused by using internal roll media. Now, if you've seen our video featuring the DPR label unwinder and rewinder, you already know one of the ways to combat this. But today, we're going to explore the other way- and that's using fanfold labels fed from the rear of the printer. The first thing we're going to want to do is make sure that our printer is set to recognize rear-fed gap media. Once we've done that, we're going to open this rear panel on the printer. Now before you load your labels, take note of this plastic piece on the back of the printer. If you've been using internal media, this is probably located right here. Where you want to keep this plastic piece depends on if you're printing from the internal or external feed on the printer. You're going to want to keep in in the opposite location from where you're printing, so I'll show you how to switch that over right now. We're going to take the plastic piece, and we're going to insert it right here. I know that's a little hard to see so let's do that in a close-up. You'll notice that we have square hooks on the back of the plastic piece, and they're going to go into these slots here and here, so we're going to put it in and then pull it towards us. It'll snap into position and then you can close up the front of the printer. Now that the plastic piece is in position, we can come around to the back and, using our 2" x 4" gloss paper fanfold labels, open this back cover and insert the labels until the printer accepts them, and we can use this blue latch to close the media guides so they fit snugly around the labels. Close that cover back up and you're ready to get printing. Efficiency is the name of the game here folks, so if you want to switch over to fanfold media or if you already have fanfold media and need more, you can always go to to order yours today. In this video, Pete reviews one of the most important features of the Epson ColorWorks series of printers. It's hard to come up with the best possible solution when you don't really know what tools and resources are available, so I'm going to take this opportunity to display one of the coolest features of the Epson ColorWorks series of printers, the auto cutter. Lets get started. The Epson C3500 features the ability to automatically cut each label to length. Typically we demonstrate this by loading it with a continuous stock and then printing a few different labels of a few different lengths. That's exactly what I'm going to do now. Here, I have two different batch files set up in bartender process builder that I'm displaying on print station. I'm going to go ahead and run those, and then they'll be sent to the printer and cut at different intervals to make labels of different sizes. Up first we have a product label (4" x 1") then we'll have a shipping label (4" x 3") last we will have a nutritional label (4" x 2"). The auto cutter is available on the Epson c3500, c7500, and c6000 series of printers. Now that you've seen this in action, I want you to think about how many blank label stock sizes you could get rid of by utilizing this solution. [Transcript] What's up guys, welcome to the Infinity Label Group print lab, my name is Ian and today I'm going to be showing you how to set up your brand new Epson Colorworks C3500 Inkjet label printer. First thing's first, you're going to want to open your box. Included inside is your printer, a power cable, maintenance box, a set of ink cartridges, and a label catch tray. Also included is a software installation disc but you won't want to use that, it includes old software. You're going to want to go to and install the test drivers and software. To begin, place your printer on a flat, stable, and vibration-free surface. Take one end of the power cord and plug it into the wall and the other end into the printer's power outlet. If you're going to network this printer, now is a good time to plug in the ethernet cable as well. After plugging in your printer, it is time to turn it on, and install your maintenance box and ink. To power on your printer, you're going to hold down the power button for one second until this green light comes on. After turning it on, wait until the printer is ready. It should show the ink light on and this middle status light should be blinking. You're going to start by installing the maintenance box. The maintenance box comes with foil on the backside. DO NOT remove this foil. On the top, there is an arrow. When you install it, this should face toward the printer. To install the maintenance box, first open the side cover. Take the maintenance box and slide it in until you hear a click. Then you are going to reinstall the side cover. To install the ink cartridges, first open up this door on the right side of the printer. You'll see there are spaces labeled black, cyan, magenta, yellow. To install an ink cartridge, the color label should be facing out. The text should be right side up to where you can read it. When putting the ink in you're going to press it in until you hear a click, and it will pop out slightly. Continue to place every ink cartridge in the printer. Once every ink cartridge is inserted, you can go ahead and close the door. Once your ink is charged, you can go ahead, insert your labels, and begin printing. So when we get a call from a client with a less-than-perfect label, we take it very seriously. In this video, Pete and Ian explain how to fix blurry edges on a C3500-printed label, and dig into why this happens. [Transcript] What's up guys, it's Pete. I'm here with another member of our team, Ian Faust. Last week, Ian received a service call from a customer with a C3500 concerning the quality of their labels. While they were clear in the center, the customer had realized the outside of the printed area was a little blurry. Today, Ian is going to walk you through diagnosing and fixing this issue. Lets get started. (Ian) Thanks, Pete. So as you mentioned, the customer was having an issue with blurry edges on their label. This was with a 3-inch continuous stock. This has to do with the backing louvers inside the printer. Now, I've tested out a sample infinity label group label that shows this perfectly (zoom on label). So, the vacuum louvers live on the inside of the printer. Each side has four of them, essentially what this does is creates a suction on the label to keep it against the base. When the label extends halfway over one of these, it can pull down on the edges, which creates that blurred image. (With printer open) What are the louvers and how do they work? Well, inside of the printer on the vacuum plate you have these slide pieces that go up and down. When they're down, they cover the holes, when they're up, they're open. As I said before, what this does is create a vacuum pressure on the label that holds it against the base. When the label extends halfway into an open louver, it can pull down on the label stock, which makes printing blurry. So, which louvers should you have closed? Well it's easy to tell. On top of every C3500, Epson has placed a label with a ruler on it. You're going to take your label, put it on the ruler, and as you can see this label is just under that 79 millimeter mark (or inches). If I go to the top and reference that number, it shows that just the center two louvers should be open. Once you have the louvers properly adjusted, your prints should be coming out crystal clear. Epson recommends that you perform this maintenance every time the maintenance box is replaced. [Transcript] What's up guys it's Pete. While I was reviewing our last video on replacing the media on the Epson C3500, I noticed that there was a pretty big buildup of paper dust inside the printer, so I wanted to create a followup video on cleaning out these printers. The parts that we are going to focus on cleaning are the platen and the auto-cutter. Epson recommends you perform this cleaning every time you replace your maintenance box. To make it easier, their maintenance boxes are shipped with the tools that are needed, but I'll go over them real quick just in case. We will need a non-woven cloth, some cotton swabs, and some rubbing alcohol. To begin, we are going to unplug the AC power cable from the printer. Next, we will open the roll cover and remove the labels, if there are any inside. Use the cloth to wipe away any ink on the platen. There may be some stains that are difficult to reach with the cloth, but that is where the cotton swabs will come in. Use them to get into the holes and make sure that none are clogged. Now the other thing we want to check is the auto cutter blade. This can be found just behind the front media guides. Get a little bit of alcohol on your cloth, and wipe the metal blade to clear away any adhesive. You may have also noticed there's some paper dust built up in the back of the printer. What you DON'T want to do is take a can of compressed air and blow that all over the place. Instead, what we recommend is getting a small, handheld vacuum cleaner (you can get them decently cheap online) and what I'm going to do now is take this and just clean out the rest of the inside of the printer. Obviously, these are tough little printers but while you're doing that, just be gentle and be careful of the components inside. That's all there is to it, close your printer up and plug it back in. Printing onto round labels on a roll can be tricky. Some printers require you to move the label gap sensor to the centre line. The C3500 has the label gap sensor positioned near to the centre line and the label guide is self-centring. Even so if you want full bleed print right to the edge we recommend we supply labels with a circle cut into a square see video.
