Hi Guys, it is finally time for a new NAS (Network Attached Storage) and I am excited to share this with you. After I bricked my first NAS by accident (it was a 16 years old Buffalo that a friend gave me for free), I had bought the WD MyCloud that gave me quite some trouble as I have shown in previous videos. Honestly, the whole NAS thing started to annoy me so I considered to just jam a bunch of hard drives into the empty slots of my Windows PC and call it a day. However, this would not really solve my storage problem as I would have to keep it running all day, or turn it on every time I want to access some bigger files. So I would have to schedule its running times and make it able to wake up on lan access, then buy a smaller case and silent cooling fans because it is way too loud - you see where this is going, I reinvented the wheel ;) So a new NAS it is - but which one? After a lot of research over the past year I managed to define my requirements and narrow it down to about 10 different NAS models. Between lectures, exams and my job I kept an eye on the prices while putting some money aside for it. In the meantime, every single hard drive I had was filling up (recording online lectures and new video material) and when I started to buy extra flash drives to offload some data, I knew I needed to make a move. Luckily, I came across a very good offer for the QNAP TS-453D and a friend of mine could confirm its quality, because he just happens to have this exact model. QNAP czy SYNOLOGY? Takie pytanie zadaje sobie każda osoba, która poważnie myśli o zakupie serwera NAS. Który system NAS jest lepszy, QTS dostarczany przez QNAP czy DSM od Synology? W odcinku QNAP vs SYNOLOGY postarałem się podejść do rywalizacji pomiędzy tymi dwoma konkurencyjnymi rozwiązaniami bez żadnych uprzedzeń. Serwerów NAS Synology używałem od wielu lat. Dlatego przedstawiłem w odcinku porównanie z mojej perspektywy. Pokazałem jak w NAS QNAP wyglądają funkcję i aplikacje, z których korzystałem właśnie w serwerach NAS Synology i jakie są pomiędzy nimi różnice. Nie poruszałem tu funkcjonalności i aplikacji, które działają bardzo podobnie, czyli chociażby QNAP QSync czy Synology Drive, które działają na zasadzie prywatnej chmury danych. Skupiłem się głównie na różnicach, a jest ich całkiem sporo. Od podstawowej jaką jest system plików BTRFS stosowany w NAS Synology vs EXT4 w serwerach NAS QNAP po współpracę z UPS'em, obsługą Dockera czy Container Station, a na aplikacji do monitoringu IP czyli Synology Surveillance Station vs QNAP QVR Pro kończąc.
