5 reasons The Sony 20mm f/1.8 lens is my favourite lens for vlogging and everyday content creation: 1. Wide Aperture: The f/1.8 aperture is excellent for low-light performance and creates a shallow depth of field, which is useful for getting that nice background blur (bokeh) and isolating subjects from their surroundings. Very handy for vlogging as its a much shallower look than the more popular 16-35 f2.8 lenses. 2. Lightweight and Portable: Its very small and compact and doesnt add too much weight to the camera which makes it ideal for vlogging where you will often hold the camera out for periods of time and also means its easy to fit into more compact bags. 3. Fast Autofocus: means you stay in focus while vlogging but also allows for easy subject switching when needed. Handy when you are switching between selfie and POV views 4. Versatility: While the 20mm focal length may be wide, it can still be used creatively for various vlogging styles, including vlogging while walking, capturing landscapes, or providing a more immersive view of your surroundings. For me its a nice in between the 24mm and 16mm focal lengths. 5. Price: As a prime lens its much cheaper at approx $800 brand new than the more popular 16-35mm f2.8 lenses which makes it more affordable for those looking for a great vlogging lens and alterations to the 16-35mm. If you’re looking to grab a new lens for content creation then I highly recommend this one! Sharing many characteristics both in the physical and optical design to the Sony 24mm f/1.4 G Master - the 20mm is extremely versatile and competitively priced. The 20mm f/1.8 features 2 aspherical elements and 3 ED elements. It is an ultra-wide lens with a large aperture designed to give outstanding quality and at the same time be compact and lightweight. Sony also built this with their XD Linear AF system. Having a rail focus system gives you a lens that is fast, accurate and quiet enough for video application.
