Its still one of apples nicest display. A shame the screen itself is out of date, but still usable and makes a great docking station to have all my stuff plugged into instead of my macbook. Prob eventually upgrade to Lg's new 38 curved display.

Besides the obvious, it went black and never turned on again. And wanting to save you all time and money in order to get you back to enjoying your monitor as quickly as possible. I want to start off with quality, let's face it, Apple using the highest quality materials available to manufacture their products. These displays are built well and they are built to last. These things are work horses and are still going strong in 2021. Folks I know who own one of these, just don't want to get rid of them, and wouldn't consider another monitor. Secondly, I want to address compatibility, because I have not seen another non-Apple monitor that integrates so well with MacOS operating systems. I love the fact that I can control volume and brightness levels right on my keyboard. No reaching behind the monitor or turning little knobs that are an eyesore on my workstation! Third, I plan on getting a second monitor in the near future, and that’s why I didn’t want to take a shortcut. Many folks use the spare Thunderbolt 2 port in the rear of the monitor as an alternative when the main Thunderbolt 2 cable goes bad. If I went that route, a second monitor would not be an option. Lastly, these things are just bad ass, so if your Apple A1407 is not working, why not fix it if the repair is relatively inexpensive? And in my opinion, DIY is the best route, since most PC repair shops don’t work on these types of monitors. I did find a local repair shop who specializes in Apple products, but just for them to take a look at and give me an estimate was between $65USD and $85USD. Not to mention the repair could take up to two weeks because of the COVID-19 pandemic. If I can fix my Apple Thunderbolt Display 27 not turning on, so can you! The most difficult step of the process is really detaching and attaching the (4) cables that tie the LCD monitor to the logic board. So roll up your sleeves and good luck with your DYI repair. 'Behind the screen' details of how I modernized a Thunderbolt Display to keep using it with a new M1 MacBook Pro. Completely hidden, no desktop dongles, still just two connections, but now they are both USB-C. The Thunderbolt Display still charges my MacBook, and the MacBook now runs 3 external displays and more with just 1 cable! Please be aware: The procedure in this video involves opening and modifying an AC mains powered device. The left side power supply board has many exposed solder joints, and capacitors may store charge even after power is disconnected. You should not need to handle this board or plug in the open monitor, but proceed with caution anyway, and if in doubt, check with a meter. Be aware, be safe, but don't be afraid! On Tuesday, January 25th I finally decided to bite the bullet and purchase the display of my dreams- the thunderbolt display. This is the video of my initial unboxing and first setup and impressions. Although the display retails for what is no doubt one of the highest price points on the market, ($999) it in really makes up for it with its unbelieveable contrast ratio, and hub like capabilities. Ссылки на подходящие для MacBook мониторы: Liyama ProLite 5K 27" — Высокая плотность пикселей, но средние показатели по контрастноти и цветовому охвату. LG 27MD5KL 5K 27". Матрица точно такая же как в iMac 27. Супер монитор. Дорогущий и не продающийся. LG 24UD58-B 4К 24". Плотность пикселей 190 (220 родное у mac), то есть приемлемое. Дешевый. Dell P2415Q: 4К 24". Всё как у LG, но чуть лучше цветопередача. Короче выбор монитора для MacBook — это одна сплошная проблема. Нормальных мониторов с нормальным соотношением цена/качество просто нет. How does it fair in competition against the long outdated Apple Thunderbolt Display?** **I realize the Apple Display is a 1440p display whereas this is a 1080p display, but the color and look of the display feels really similar between the two and honestly it looks great ok? ok. The different models are "ES," which I showed in this video and "ER." The "ES" model of the HP monitors is the better of the two due to a faster display response time of 7ms whereas the "ER" model is 14ms. They're both priced the same and all of the other specs between the two are nearly exactly the same. I would suggest doing some research between the two before purchasing I personally chose the ES series model due to the low response time, and the price.
