We are going to attach the Dell TB16 Thunderbolt Dock to our Dell Precision 5520 laptop to give us more ports, power and streamline the cable proficiency of our work-space. This is a device that links all the tablets, external-drives, and every other device to the laptop or computer using just a single Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) cable. Which means when I need to go anywhere, I just unplug that one cable and go! My desk will look cleaner, neater and more manageable for not having all of the cables going directly into the Dell Precision 5520 as well. Here's a list of the features the Dell TB16 will give to you: HDMI VGA Mini-DisplayPort (mDP) DisplayPort (DP) Ethernet RJ-45 with LEDs USB 2.0 (x2) USB 3.0 Thunderbolt 1 (USB Type-C) 7.4 mm DC-in Power Input Speaker Out Dell Docking Station Connector Global 3.5 mm Headset Jack USB 3.0 with PowerShare USB 3.0 Power Adapter LED Dock Button Kensington Lock Slot To aid with the idea of this cleaner, smarter work-space, I've used a product from the wonderful world of Ergotron. The Thin Client Mount. This versatile holder offers an easy way to integrate your TB16, MacMini (or it would just make a sweet headphone stand) into your work-space. It has a VESA mount as a part of it's design so it can be fitted perfectly between the arm and the drawing tablet or in this case, my notebook tray! The Ergotron Thin Client Mount can also be bolted directly under the desk or attached to the pole of the Ergotron arm too! They think of everything! CalDigit Thunderbolt Station 3 Plus, OWC Thunderbolt 3 Dock, Elgato Thunderbolt 3 Dock. the CalDigit TS3 Plus Dock is even sold through apple's own website, at a fair price. here is the link: A thunderbolt 2 port can transfer data 4x the speed of a usb3 port. And it would be nice to make use of it. There is a problem in using adapters for new thunderbolt 3 and usb-c devices though. This video addresses the problem, tells you why it don't work right of the bat, and shows a solution to this problem.
