NAS Brands in 2021 – Which One Should You Choose?
Buying your first Network Attached Storage (NAS) device can be a remarkably daunting task! Even for the most technologically knowledgable, a NAS is a very different kind of device than most of the hardware in your environment. At its heart, it is just a computer (like most things are when you break them down to the basics) that is built for a specific task. However, there are numerous elements of a NAS (such as it always being ON, the constant remote accessibility and focus on storage primarily) that set it apart from most other devices, and this si where a lot of people get a bit intimidated by it. There is always the option of using cloud services, such as DropBox, Google Drive, OneDrive and more, but these are often paid monthly subscription services, involve your data being shared across other services and (most worrying of all) leaves your precious data in a position to be used for analytics without your knowledge OR open to hacking because of the sheer size of the target. Add to this the fact that in most cases, a severed connection to the internet means a severed connection to your data, and the appeal of moving away from 3rd party cloud and on to a NAS is pretty clear. The industry of NAS has been in constant growth for over 30 years, with big players like HP, Dell and IBM steadily losing the home and SMB market to the likes of Synology, QNAP and more. The brand diversity in the field of NAS servers has continued to grow right up until 2021, with the benefit that the way you can interact with your data, what NAS devices can do and the price point of this technology being exceedingly affordable (with fully featured solutions WITH storage media arriving as low as £200). So, today I want to talk about what NAS is, what a NAS can do, and which NAS Brand you should consider buying in 2021.

Does the New Nimbustor 4 NAS from Asustor Perform?
As long as I have been in the NAS industry, I can say with confidence that there has been one single constant - gigabit ethernet (1Gbe) via copper (RJ45) has been present on every single device up to this point. From small little DLNA media NAS boxes, all the way upto enterprise-grade rackmounts, the humble 1Gbe port has always been there. Even when a brand has included large 10Gbe ports, it has always been largely outnumbered by 1Gbe ports. This is understandable, the network market hugely features this default port, but with file sizes always getting bigger and increased access speeds being required, it is fair to say that 1Gbe is starting to look rather out of its depth. It is for this reason (or similar) that Asustor's newest generation of NAS drives for home and business in 2019/2020 have taken the very bold move of completely eliminating the 1Gbe RJ45 ports, and instead, making the jump to ports by default instead. I have already touched on this previously on the build-up to, and during, the Computex 2019 event - highlighting why this move into 2.5 gigabit ethernet is such a big, BIG deal, but today I finally have a Nimbustor 4 here in the office and am going work my way through it's hardware, it's software and how the new AS5304T NAS compares with likewise rivals units from Synology and QNAP. Today is the Hardware review and the main question I want to answer is whether the Nimbustor 4 is a gimmick or a genuine game-changing NAS server that will be the start of a new kind of network attached storage. Let's get to work.
Pick Up your Asustor Nimbustor 4 AS5304T NAS from SPAN - ~69697
When I first unpacked the shipping container to get to the Nimbustor 4, I was pleasantly surprised by the retail packaging. I shouldn't be - Asustor has always been very graphical in their packaging, going to good lengths to detail what the units can do, the hardware specs, the software specs and generally creating a very appealing and engaging retail design. I often comment warmly on the attention many companies make on retail packaging, despite the fact these devices are almost always purchased from online stores (so by the time you see the packaging, you have already purchased it), it would be a dull, dull world indeed if everything arrived in default brown box packaging (do you hear me Synology?). Thanks to a sharp rise in the number of people using cloud storage options like Apple’s iCloud, Google Drive or even a backup solution like Backblaze, having your own NAS at home really isn’t all that necessary for a whole lot of people. But, for the small subset that want fast, local access to their data, or want to run their own basic servers for something like Plex, these two options from Asustor are one of the cheapest ways to do just that.

ASUSTOR Drivestor 2 the little NAS that can!
This is a excellent entry into the world of NAS and network attached storage.
The price of £150/$169 is what the experts would say a flippin bargain mate!
This tiny 2 bay NAS might be cheap but still packs a ton of features like a quad core ARM processor with native 4K h265 decoding, 1GB DDR4 RAM, 2.5 Gigabit ethernet and ADM4.0 with all the security and flexibility you could ever want or need.
This NAS can do it all and even has a "media" mode for those looking to stream audio and video without lag or frame skipping, or for security IP cameras you can use the powerful processor to collate all your records in one place and watch anywhere using EZCONNECT.
Everything about this NAS is just so easy to and not expensive. You can get setup for less than £200 with a 2 or 3 TB mass storage drive!
Overall very pleased with this NAS, an excellent entry into your own personal cloud.

The Asustor AS-302T Multimedia NAS Server is basically a mini computer system that serves as a dedicated storage device for all of your data needs. What really sets this apart from other NAS servers is it's ability to turn into a HTPC. Just add HDMI cable to a compatible HDTV and you're watching movies, TV shows and listening to your favorite music in no time. It comes with an Intel ATOM Dual-Core Processor, 4 USB ports, up-to 2 drives can be installed, HDMI connection, Gigabit Ethernet port, audio jack & works with just about an OS. For the money, the AS-302T is outstanding! Це відео автоматично взято із YouTube за назвою товару, можливий неправильний пошук.
NAS All in One ASUSTOR AS6404T: Una increíble pieza para tener por casa

Overall, the AS7110T a nice release from Asustor. The 10-bay NAS is highlighted by an Intel Xeon 9th generation Quad-Core CPU, up to 64GB of server-grade DDR4-2666 ECC memory, two M.2 NVMe SSD ports for caching, one 10-Gigabit Ethernet port, three ports and a USB 3.2 Gen2 connectivity. Ir can be customized to fit a range of budgets, and can easily scale as a business grows or needs more storage; up to 160TB or 352TB via expansion units. For SMBs that are looking for a high quality NAS with plenty of capacity and performance, the Asustor AS7110T is a good choice. For growing businesses, the AS7110T can grow as the business does, expanding capacity and performance along the way.

The full review on (including more info, tests, and links to specs, installation instructions, and some general usage tips):
From our review:
Today we are doing our first Network Attached Storage (NAS) review and it comes from a company that is relatively new to the market but has a major heavyweight parent company.
ASUSTOR was founded in 2011 and is a subsidiary of the Taiwanese giant ASUS (pronounced AZUS if you were wondering), one of the largest computer and hardware manufacturers in the world. Unlike ASUS which has a whole range of computing and electronic products, ASUSTOR focus specifically on network-attached storage solutions.
Although it might not be as familiar name in the industry as Qnap and Synology, since its creation ASUSTOR became a viable alternative to those brands and the drive that we will be testing today called the AS4004T is not only competitive with some of the offerings from those brands, it is possibly a leader in its class - at least in some respects as we shall see later on.
Before we start, an important note. There is no way that we can cover all of the different aspects of this unit. Covering everything will require several lengthy videos and probably a lot more knowledge than we have about networks, so in this review, we will focus on what we have found to be relevant for us as photographers, videographers and content creators and we shall share links for more information for people who will want to dive deeper.
Let's start by taking a quick look at the unit externally. The AS4004T has four 3.5" bays and is quite compact, measuring 22cm (about 8.5") deep over 16cm by 16cm (or 6.2") in height and weight. It has a pretty substantial power brick which we connected to a UPS (which is highly recommended, but more on this later).

A NAS That Sucks..... AT NOTHING...! (ASUSTOR AS5304T Review)
Here is ASUSTOR's New AS5304T where it can be a HTPC that can play netflix, browse the web, play chess, and do all NAS things on top of that (NAS to NAS backup for example is done really easy via the ASUStor Portal).
Today though I also setup an iSCSI and show you how easy it is to do on this NAS, as well testing out the speeds and comparing it to the AS4004T, which doesn't have the HDMI 2.0 out and keyboard mouse function like the nimbustor does. Though the AS5304T does have two drawbacks for its extra features, and that it is more expensive and doesn't feature 10GBe like the AS4004T does, here is a full review of the unit today.

Asustor Drivestor 2 (AS1102T) Review: Best Beginner NAS? Almost
The Drivestor 2 represents great value for money with connectivity out of the box, though you'll need to use fast SSDs or RAID 0 take advantage of that. There are some performance limitations with the non-expandable 1GB RAM, but overall it's a great beginner package.
