In response to a question on our forum 'Why are 3D charts slow compared to 2D charts when rendering 1,000,000 points' we demonstrated that the 3D point-cloud chart type is fast when run on adequate hardware.
You will need a decent GPU to run high point count 3D Charts as these chart types are fully GPU accelerated, and almost all the work is done on the GPU (not CPU).
However, with an adequate mid-level GPU (in this case nVidia 1070 GTX), we are able to render 1,000,000 points (1 Million points) at 60-100 FPS using SciChart WPF 3D. This powerful API allows you to quickly append trendlines, polynomial trends, moving averages, low pass filters, as well as scale or offset a series on a WPF Chart.
In addition the Filters API allows you to create spline interpolated series, aggregate data-points and create custom filters which can be anything you want.

At SciChart we care a lot about performance, which is why, when our users reported that the time to first load or startup of a SciChartSurface was a few seconds, we added a method to asychronously initialize licensing & 3D engine before showing the first chart.
However, this wasn't enough, so we went back and had a look at the startup process and discovered a very simple change which would improve the startup performance by up to 28x!!
This will be released as part of SciChart WPF v6.2, which features advanced multi-GPU support and GPU compatibility testing, up to 28x faster initialization time as well as a host of features & fixes.

Some of our customers have asked us if it is possible to perform one-time license and library initialization asynchronously at application start time. In this short example we demonstrate how to perform one-time async initialization of our 2D/3D Graphics engine and license loading asynchronously before any SciChart content is shown.
This technique solves the problem of slow startup performance of SciChart WPF and give a good user experience to your customers, by performing the initialization the library asynchronously at application startup.
Initialization is one-time, once it has been performed, every subsequent WPF chart created should be very fast. However, this slight delay in initialization was causing some customers to seek a solution for faster SciChart WPF startup time.

In this quick demo we show you the hardware-accelerated 3D Charts added SciChart Mobile SDK v3 - which allows you to add 3D interactive scientific graphs to your iOS, Android and Xamarin Applications.
Our iOS/Android charts use a fully hardware-accelerated (OpenGL, Metal), cross-platform C++ rendering engine which we have built in-house. This rendering engine is used in our iOS, Android, Xamarin as well as WPF (Windows) charts to give you a consistent, ultra-high performance experience across platforms.
With SciChart you can now add 3D scientific, engineering or financial charts to your iOS or Android applications. Visualize LIDAR data using our 3D point-cloud charts, or plot the output of machine learning with our 3D Bubble or Scatter charts. Visualise engineering or scientific data with Surface-Mesh plots and visualise audio or radio spectra with our Waterfall 3D Chart.
