And it would be nice to make use of it. There is a problem in using adapters for new thunderbolt 3 and usb-c devices though. This video addresses the problem, tells you why it don't work right of the bat, and shows a solution to this problem.

Do you need an extra display through your Thunderbolt 3 or Thunderbolt 4 connection on your laptop? This is likely the cheapest solution for you over a laptop dock. It is a display adapter or display hub that works through your USB C Thunderbolt 3 or Thunderbolt 4 port. I needed an additional monitor display and the Cable Matters USB Thunderbolt Display Hub is what I needed. It provides an HDMI, Displayport of VGA display, an additonal USB 2.0, an ethernet port, and a USB-C pass through charger port. You can only use one of the three display options on this specific model, but I still think it's pretty awesome for adding an extra monitor display to your laptop! You can purchase it from Amazon Used - Like New for about $30 and new for about $50. I thought this was a pretty cool piece of tech for being only $30 since I bought the Used - Like New version. I haven't had any problems with it displaying and detecting on my monitor via the Displayport connection. My Amazon link is NOT an affiliate link, but this thing is super hard to find searching on Amazon and they sell multiple versions if you need a different port or use out of it. This is a review of the Lenovo USB Type-C Gen2 Docking Station. This is a "universal" Type-C docking station that provides power via USB Type-c. It has 3x USB3.1, 2x USB2.0, 2x Display Port, 1x HDMI Port, 1x Combo Audio Jack, and 1x Gigabit Ethernet port. It supports Monitors: 1 x 4K @ 60 Hz, or 2 x 4K @ 30 Hz, or 3 @ 1080p. I tried to use a USB 3.1 A to C cable, to connect it to older PCs without Type-C, but the dock would not work.
