This is an unboxing, installation, and first impressions/review of the Thule Yepp Nexxt Maxi frame mounted child bike seat. This is more expensive than most, but I consider this the very best bike child seat on the market, and the quality is amazing. We highly recommend it! It's super easy to take on and off, and the mount is easy to install on most bikes. Please note this is the framed mounted version, as often you will find other versions like the frame mounted when searching for this product. The two versions are different and are not compatible.

Full transcript: Evangeline: Hi, it's Evangeline from , and today we are looking at Thule's Yepp Maxi, child bike seat here at etrailer. Now, this bike seat is designed to sit behind, on the rear of your bikes so that you can bring your child along on your biking adventures. This seat is designed to accommodate children from nine months to six years old. So there's different adjustment points for the different ages and height of your , this is also made of EPA material, which means it's soft, but very sturdy. Like when I press it here, it's cushiony, which means it will cushion that shock, which is great, especially on bumpy rides. And it also comes in different colors. This is orange, and there's also black, ocean and material is water resistant, and it also is designed with these holes in the back just to make it easy for rain, water, and other liquid messes to just drain through. It's also very easy to , for safety, this has a five point harness, and you can just buckle your child in. To release, you just press the sides and the top, then you can release on each side. And to buckle it in, just pop them back in like that. There we go. Then tighten it down and you can adjust the straps as well, for it grows with your child. When your child gets taller, you can adjust it to have more space, or less seat is attached to the bike by this steel frame. And I'm actually a big fan of this frame. If you notice how it has this flat, yet very sturdy design. I have installed other rear bike seats that have maybe a thinner and round tube that I was not as confident of its sturdiness as this is. It looks, and it feels very strong. It is attached to the bike by this mount over here. And if you tighten it down properly and install it properly, this grips to the back. They have rubber grips to protect your frame. And it prevents side to side motion, as well as it clamps it have adjustable foot rest for your child, as well as these shields to protect your bike seat, as well as your child's feet from your bike. And these can adjust up and down. So you might start off with the foot rest up here on top, and then as your child grows, then bring it down. So it grows with the child.A lot of the sturdiness comes from this metal frame that runs around the seat and really keeps it sturdy and durable. There's also adjustment points here in the back, and it's super easy to adjust because you can just turn it, push it through, put it back on the top and release. This also has these nice plastic reflectors at three points. So that's really good because it helps protect you as you drive and keep you I'm going down here to the foot rest. These adjusts, and they also have some numbers maybe to help you out, where if your child is one, two, three, four, five. You can have them at different points, slide them up and down and just snap it into , the seat should sit right over your rear axle, but if you do need some extra space, you can adjust it back and forth by loosening the bottom screws and just pulling and pushing on it. And when you're ready to go on a solo adventure, it's really easy to take it out. To release it you just press the red button and pull this lever. Then the entire seat can come out, leaving this here. If you just want to have that ease of installing and uninstalling the the seat itself is not a burden. It's about 10 pounds, the weight of the seat itself. So it's really easy to take out and store and to install into place again. So to install, just get it into position. Then you engage this lever at the back and it clicks into place. From there, you can then lock the seat into place and protect it from the

In this video I unbox a Thule Yepp Maxi that I ordered to put on the rack of a Rad bike. When I purchased the seat one for the suggested items to add to my cart was the frame adapter, so I wasn't sure if it came with and adapter or not. Without doing any research I assumed the seat was universal and you just needed to buy the correct adapters for the frame or a rack. Turns out you have to order a seat the is specific for a rack or a frame adapter.

I have had this bike seat for 5 months now and I have used it everywhere. I like it but it is not perfect. Backpack style harness This harness is the standout feature for the RideaAlong, and hands down the best and easiest to use harness of any child bike seat on the market. The wide, sturdy back-pack style straps stay in place better than any other straps we’ve tested. Pull the harness over your child’s head, and then to tighten, simply pull down on the excess strap. To loosen, push the blue button and pull up. Seriously the EASIEST TO USE EVER. To set the straps at the appropriate height for your rider, the entire harness slides up and down the back of the seat so you can set it at exactly the right height, and easily adjust as your child grows. The RideAlong is one of only two seats to have a continuously adjustable harness like this. The buckle snaps securely in place and can easily be undone with one hand by an adult, but requires too much force for a child to manage to unbuckle themselves. Sooo easy to use The blue color-coding system of the Thule RideAlong makes this seat pretty foolproof. Anything on the seat that can be adjusted is blue. From shoulder strap height and shoulder strap tightening and loosening to the buckle, recline, and footrest… the adjustment mechanisms are all blue! Almost all adjustments can be done using just one hand, leaving your other hand free to hold up your bike! It’s the little details like this that make every Thule product so easy to use, making it just that much easier to get your little ones out for a ride. Recline! The RideAlong is one of few child bike seats that can recline and is definitely easier to recline than most other seats. The reclining mechanism simply requires pulling up one lever beneath the seat, which allows the other hand to hold the bike in place. This can be done on the fly if you come to a stop in the middle of your ride! There are 5 different recline positions. Adjustable footrests By sliding the footrest up or down, you can quickly adjust these foot platforms to be at a perfectly comfortable height for your child. The foot straps snap in place on the side. The tightness of the footstraps is a bit trickier to adjust than most other footsteps, and we’ve found that determined kids can pretty easily remove their feet. The foot straps are about the only thing we wish they’d improve on this otherwise excellent seat. Padding The sturdy, water-repellent padding is thin, but dense, offering enough cushioning without being bulky. It can easily be removed for washing, and is also reversible for you to choose your color preference! As you can see, there are no ventilation holes for airflow during hot weather. Whether or not that will be an issue for you depends on your climate and the season you’ll be riding in. Mounting/Unmounting is a breeze! The Thule RideAlong is only available as a rear frame-mounted seat. In order to mount the RideAlong on your bike, you need about 6” clear of wires on your bike’s frame to install the mounting bracket. Once the mounting bracket is installed on your bike and the mounting bars are installed on the seat, you simply push the bars into the mounting bracket until an audible click is heard. To take it off, pull on the blue button on the mounting bracket’s face and pull the mounting bars out! One helpful feature of the RideAlong’s mounting system is the optional low saddle (seat adapter). If you ride with your saddle within an inch or so of its lowest position, it can be difficult to mount a rear-frame seat because of clearance issues. The low-saddle adapter helps solve this issue! So what’s the bottom line? Effortlessly adjustable, incredibly durable, and also reclinable, the Thule RideAlong is one of the best seat money can buy and is truly worth the slightly higher investment. Full transcript: Today we'll be taking a look at the Thule Yepp Maxi Child Bike Seat. This mounts to your rear bike post, so your seat post, and then it allows you to carry your child with you when you're out on your bike ride if that's an everyday commute or just on a leisurely ride every once in a is gonna be a nice comfortable seat. It's made of some water resistant material. It has a good feel to it. There's a little bit of squish, little bit of give, so it's gonna make that seat pretty comfortable but it's also gonna be really easy to clean so we don't have to worry about this holding on to any kind of odors or materials, any spilled liquids that get on can be easily cleaned just with soapy water. The thing that I like about that too is it actually has holes all the way in the back so that makes it really breathable, keeps airflow in there so your kiddo doesn't get too hot when you're out in the one in particular comes in black but it is available in a variety of colors you can find here at . You can also switch out the shoulder pads or the chest pads there and the foot straps and those are available in other, different colors so you can kind of mix and match and make it your 's also adjustable as far as the seat or the footrests. We can move these up or down really easily so we can get those dialed in for the proper length there. The straps also have several different holes so those can be adjusted to keep your passenger's feet securely in place. And there's two, the straps are adjustable, just a little cam buckle strap but there's also two mounting places there so as your kid grows you can also adjust where the attachment point is to get the straps loosened up just pull it through that cam buckle and take up the slack. First going in the reverse to tighten it up. The shoulder pads here again are a nice flexible, soft material, but still water resistant, so again, easy to buckle is a childproof design. So there's two buttons that we have to press for each side of this. There's the center piece and then also the side portion which if we push in on both of those that will allow that side to come out and then easily pops back in. So that makes it a little harder for any kiddos to get their hands on that and loosen it up and get themselves back again, our footrest adjustment, it's just this little toggle. Flip that up and then you can raise or lower that footrest, so adjusts really easily. We'll have some nice reflective material on either side of the feet rest or the foot rests and then also at the top to keep us highly here you'll also notice back here we also have this little tumbler lock. This is where you actually attach the bike carrier, or how you actually attach it. Right now it's locked but if we put in our key and unlock it when you press in on that button and pull out on that gray tab that allows this portion, the seat portion, to come away from the mounted bracket on your bike. So that's how you actually attach it and disassemble it. There's a little green indicator whenever that's fully attached to let you know that you have it in place and it's kind of awkward for me to show you this since it's not attached to a bike but I'll do my best we go. So, again, whenever it's actually attached on your bike it will be easier than that but there's that bright green button that we'll see through the little hole and also has a red indicator so if it's not fully in place you'll be able to see that and know that it needs to be pushed in further and then this is the portion that actually gets attached to your bike. So in the reverse, whenever we're ready to load it up, we'll just get that lined up and then again press on our red button, pull out on our gray portion and it should click into , this can be purchased separately. You can pick up another one of these and then that makes it easy if you want to switch between bikes, so if you're biking with two people or two parents are there you can have this mounted, or one of these mounted on each bike and then you can switch off who's carrying the kid and then that makes it a little bit easier for both riders and gives you some variety we have these nice big leg shields, make sure that no feet can go into the spokes on our bike wheels, no pinching can happen with your shoes, no shoelaces can get caught up in the spokes. It's gonna keep everything protected there and it goes nice and high so we don't have to
