In this video I unbox a Thule Yepp Maxi that I ordered to put on the rack of a Rad bike. When I purchased the seat one for the suggested items to add to my cart was the frame adapter, so I wasn't sure if it came with and adapter or not. Without doing any research I assumed the seat was universal and you just needed to buy the correct adapters for the frame or a rack. Turns out you have to order a seat the is specific for a rack or a frame adapter.

Full transcript: Evangeline: Hi, it's Evangeline from , and today we are looking at Thule's Yepp Maxi, child bike seat here at etrailer. Now, this bike seat is designed to sit behind, on the rear of your bikes so that you can bring your child along on your biking adventures. This seat is designed to accommodate children from nine months to six years old. So there's different adjustment points for the different ages and height of your , this is also made of EPA material, which means it's soft, but very sturdy. Like when I press it here, it's cushiony, which means it will cushion that shock, which is great, especially on bumpy rides. And it also comes in different colors. This is orange, and there's also black, ocean and material is water resistant, and it also is designed with these holes in the back just to make it easy for rain, water, and other liquid messes to just drain through. It's also very easy to , for safety, this has a five point harness, and you can just buckle your child in. To release, you just press the sides and the top, then you can release on each side. And to buckle it in, just pop them back in like that. There we go. Then tighten it down and you can adjust the straps as well, for it grows with your child. When your child gets taller, you can adjust it to have more space, or less seat is attached to the bike by this steel frame. And I'm actually a big fan of this frame. If you notice how it has this flat, yet very sturdy design. I have installed other rear bike seats that have maybe a thinner and round tube that I was not as confident of its sturdiness as this is. It looks, and it feels very strong. It is attached to the bike by this mount over here. And if you tighten it down properly and install it properly, this grips to the back. They have rubber grips to protect your frame. And it prevents side to side motion, as well as it clamps it have adjustable foot rest for your child, as well as these shields to protect your bike seat, as well as your child's feet from your bike. And these can adjust up and down. So you might start off with the foot rest up here on top, and then as your child grows, then bring it down. So it grows with the child.A lot of the sturdiness comes from this metal frame that runs around the seat and really keeps it sturdy and durable. There's also adjustment points here in the back, and it's super easy to adjust because you can just turn it, push it through, put it back on the top and release. This also has these nice plastic reflectors at three points. So that's really good because it helps protect you as you drive and keep you I'm going down here to the foot rest. These adjusts, and they also have some numbers maybe to help you out, where if your child is one, two, three, four, five. You can have them at different points, slide them up and down and just snap it into , the seat should sit right over your rear axle, but if you do need some extra space, you can adjust it back and forth by loosening the bottom screws and just pulling and pushing on it. And when you're ready to go on a solo adventure, it's really easy to take it out. To release it you just press the red button and pull this lever. Then the entire seat can come out, leaving this here. If you just want to have that ease of installing and uninstalling the the seat itself is not a burden. It's about 10 pounds, the weight of the seat itself. So it's really easy to take out and store and to install into place again. So to install, just get it into position. Then you engage this lever at the back and it clicks into place. From there, you can then lock the seat into place and protect it from the

Additionally, with three shoulder strap height adjustments, there’s plenty of room for growth. (2) Burley Dash Durable and well-designed for a very fair price point, the Dash bike seats have two unique features that set them apart from the competition. 1) Rear Storage Pocket 2) The 5 point harness system adjusts to allow you to place the buckle lower or higher on your child’s chest according to your preference. (3) Topeak BabySeat II (Rack mount only) If you know that your bike doesn’t work with a frame mounted seat and you need a rack mounted seat, the Topeak BabySeat II is the ONLY seat we know of that actually comes with a rack. (4) Thule Yepp Maxi Made from Crocs-like seat material with 56 ventilation holes in the back of the seat! The foam material of the shoulder pads is slightly grippy and helps keep them in place. (5) Hamax Caress Our favorite feature is the shoulder straps which can be set by sliding the entire back of the seat up and down. If you have a 12 month old or a petite toddler, the Hamax is a great choice if you prefer a rear mounted seat. One thing to note about the Hamax is that the shoulder straps are set more narrowly than every other seat we’ve tested, which makes it less comfortable for kids 4 and older. (6) Thule RideAlong (Frame mount only) The Thule RideAlong is their most high-end, cream-of-the-crop seat. The harness is the standout feature for the RideAlong. The wide, sturdy back-pack style straps stay in place better than any other straps we’ve tested, and are insanely easy to adjust. The blue color coding system of the Thule RideAlong makes this seat pretty fool proof. Anything on the seat that can be adjusted is blue. The RideAlong Mini is the front-mounted version of this seat, and it’s just as awesome. BABY BIKE SEATS - FRONT (7) Peg Perego Orion While not as high-quality as the other seats we recommend, we really appreciate its unique mounting system that works for bikes with little or no room on the headset for a mounting bracket. Today, we're going to be taking a quick look at the Yepp Maxi EasyFit Rear Child Bike Seat by Thule. This is going to allow you to take your little one with you on those bike rides, so that you can both enjoy the outdoors. This is designed with your child's safety in mind, so there's a lot of different safety features that we'll go over here. But this is designed for attaching to the rear luggage rack on your bike. It's that EasyFit connection, but if your bike rack doesn't have an EasyFit connection, you can find an adapter. You can see the part number on the screen there, so that will fit into your rear luggage rack to allow you to attach this bike seat so that you can take the little ones with is designed for children ages 9 months up to 6 years, who are 48 1/2 pounds or lighter. So if your child fits into that range, it's going to work well for them. Obviously you want to consult your physician before you take a child that's under the age of 1 year old out on the bike, just to make sure that they're up for it, everything's in good of the things I like most about this bike seat, is that it's going to be able to grow with your child. We know how quickly children grow and outgrow their clothes and different things, so that's one of the nice features here. It's got a lot of adjustability so that your kids can use it for years and years, and you won't have to keep buying different seats for them. So let's go over some of the features. Obviously, your child's safety is very important. We've got a childproof buckle here, so not only do you have to squeeze in on the sides, but you also have to push in on that middle. So that's a lot less likely that your kids will be able to handle that do have the five point harness to keep them in their seat. You also have foot straps here. These are a part of that adjustability that I was talking about. So as their little feet get bigger, you can adjust the strap to different heights, so that their feet will stay in the foot holders, and you don't have to worry about them kicking around or anything. We also have these legs guards here that are going to make sure that their feet aren't getting into the tire or spokes, where they could easily get pinched, cause problems there. We have reflectors on the back. We've got three reflectors here, so it's going to increase our visibility on those low light trips. For cutout, when it's starting to get dark, help other riders, motorists, that sort of thing, see also have this attachment point here, so not only is it going to be attached to our rear luggage rack, but this is going to wrap around our post that our bike seat is mounted to. So it's going to give it an extra attachment point, just make it even more solid connection. On the back side here, you can see we've got a locking mechanism, this is what is actually going to make it attach to our EasyFit window on our luggage rack. So once we have it in place, you just twist this knob, and that's going to extend this plate here. Once we have it fully extended, we can then use one of the two keys that are provided to lock that in place. So we don't have to worry about it wandering off, not being there when we come back. If we we're to leave our bike locked up somewhere, our seat is going to stay attached there. As you can see, that is not going to open to disengage that until we unlock open that back up, and then even still, this plate isn't going to move until we push in on this red button here. And then we can retract that plate again to remove the bike seat from our cargo carrier, so that's a nice little feature there. While I have you back here, I do want to show you the adjustable foot hold. So you can see we've got this tab that's in the down position, in the lock position. We just lift that up, and that's going to allow us to raise these foot holds to accommodate shorter legs. So you can see, it's now solid in position, so that we can start out with littler legs, and then continue to lower them as those legs get does also have the padded shoulder straps to make it much more comfortable for your little one while they're traveling. And the seat is a nice cushioned shock absorbing seat, so again, it makes it more comfortable for them so they can enjoy the ride. This is an unboxing, installation, and first impressions/review of the Thule Yepp Nexxt Maxi frame mounted child bike seat. This is more expensive than most, but I consider this the very best bike child seat on the market, and the quality is amazing. We highly recommend it! It's super easy to take on and off, and the mount is easy to install on most bikes. Please note this is the framed mounted version, as often you will find other versions like the frame mounted when searching for this product. The two versions are different and are not compatible.
