Santa Cruz Megatower 1 R Carbon C model 2022 yellow The Megatower has its roots in the Hightower and now has the chassis derived from the V10. This makes it the most powerful and most trustworthy enduro bike. The damper mount, which is linked to the lower bell crank, is compatible with air and steel spring dampers, offers a progressive spring characteristic with unsurpassed traction and progression and is ideal for taming the longest descents and roughest hits. So that the Megatower can stride confidently around the world, there is an enormous amount of clever adjustability in its bones. A tidy and hidden flip-chip in the lower link lever adjusts the bottom bracket height and changes the progression of the chassis. A second flipchip in the dropout enables a 10mm lengthwise adjustment of the chainstay in order to optimally adjust the weight distribution of the rider - either optimized for playfulness or directional stability. The flip chips are a robust mechanism that allows various geometrical adjustments without compromising reliability and durability. There is no crazy technology or susceptible special dampers here. But the Megatower can not only be aggressive and rough, it is also intelligent and accomplished. It has a steep, 76-degree seat angle for the rapid ascent to steep descents, on which the wide cockpit and the 65-degree steering angle then come into their own. The frame is well protected with damper protection, shuttle protection, downtube protection and ribbed chainstay protection. Colnago C40 is the bike that started the carbon fiber revolution. This frame we have is the very same model that Oskar Freire from the Mapei team won the 2001 World Championship. This model has a carbon frame and a full carbon fork Star. Our bike has Campagnolo Record 10 Speed groupset (Team Mapei had Shimano Dura Ace 7700 groupset). Mapei was the first professional bike team that got equipped with Colnago's carbon fibre frames. In 1995, Mapei's Franco Ballerini won the Paris-Roubaix and suddenly everybody was aware of the superiority of carbon fiber frames over steel and aluminum. The next year ultimately made the frame a legend when Johan Museeuw, Andrea Tafi, and Gianluca Bortolami crossed the line at the Paris Roubaix velodrome as first, second, and third. The team Mapei repeated this one-two-three win in 98 and 99. The yellow frame (older generation of C40) has a carbon fork with an aluminum steerer made by the firm Time. This is different from the full carbon fork Star at the B-stay. Apart from the fork, there are some additional design changes worth mentioning. Seatstays in Bstay are in one piece while the yellow frame has the three tubes glued together. There is also a difference in cable stop holder for shifting. Lastly, the yellow frame has the Colnago symbol on the frame while B-stay doesn't. In order to have the needed stiffness and strength in Colnago bikes bigger than 59 cm, special geometry named after Freuler was used. This geometry used framesets with extended head and seat tubes that went beyond the junction with the horizontal top tube, keeping the top tube closer to the down tube. Hope you enjoyed this video. The R10 is a fully carbon road bike from Sundeal, a new Chinese bike brand. Their bikes are built by Ideal Corporation; a company that handles OEM bike manufacturing for the likes of BMC and Fuji. This bike costs less than $1000 and comes spec'd with SRAM Apex groupset, Mavic wheels and tires, FSA finishing kit, and a Selle San Marco saddle. I spent a week with the bike, and share my thoughts on it and the Chinese bike industry in general in this review.
