You can expand your smart homes lighting and save some money. By setting up IKEA smart lighting with the Philips Hue Bridge. You do not need the ikea hub/gateway to make this work. In my case, I'm using the Tradfri GU10 Smart bulbs with the philips hue bridge and controlling the bulb through the Philip Hue app. Once you've used the Hue essentials app to add your ikea bulbs to your Philips Hue app, you can switch back to the Philips Hue app and control your IKEA Smart Bulbs at the same time as your Philips Hue ones. When you receive your Philips HUE lights and bridge you have to set it up. First install the HUE mobile app. You can find it in App Store or Google Play Store After you installed the app, open it. Then tap “Get Started”. Next step is to read terms of use. Tap Agree. Then you have to read the privacy notice. Tap Continue. If you already have an account or want to create one feel free to do it. I don’t want to, so I tap Skip. Next I choses type of configuration. It can be with a bridge or without. Next is to set up hardware. Power up the bridge. Connect the bridge to your router using ethernet cable. Tap on the Search button. It will find your bridge. Tap on Button to confirm that it is the right one. Tap continue to finish connection. Then HUE bridge wants to update software. It can take a few minutes. Next it shows lights that are available.

Using Hue Essentials app which you can find in the Google Play you can easily connect any Zigbee protocol bulb with easy to your Philips Hue app. Just pressing the “Touchlink” button in the app to make the bulb pulse then pressing the “Search for Lights” button, is all that takes to connect your bulb to the Philips Hue Bridge. This method will be used both for the IKEA Trådfri Bulb and the IKEA Trådfri Sensor. You need: Philips Hue Play gradient lightstrip Philips Hue Play HDMI sync box Philips Hue Bridge Philips Hue app 1. Remove dust with a clean cloth. 2. Starting with the center mount, peel off the protective backing. 3. Attach in the center of your TV about 5 cm from the top edge, making sure the arrows point towards the edge of the TV. 4. Continue with corner and lower mounts, working around inputs or obstructions. 5. Drape the lightstrip over the brackets, aligning the arrow with the center bracket. 6. Press gently to insert the lightstrip into the brackets. 7. Connect the cable on the lightstrip to the control box and attach to the TV with the adhesive backing. 8. Connect the power cable to the other side of the control box. 9. Plug the power supply into a wall socket. 10. I'm able to confirm with matter 1.0 version on Philips Hue bridge, IKEA bulbs are exposed in apple HomeKit successfully, meaning that you don't have to buy an IKEA dirigera hub if you already have a hue bridge using with Ikea products. Unfortunately, dimmers and sensors connected via hue bridge are not exposed in the apple HomeKit. Good news! Hue dimmer buttons are showing up in HomeKit successfully, with an additional trigger method 'hold' so you can set them up in HomeKit for any HomeKit products and scenes to automate your smart home devices.
